    www.progressivehouse.com Progcast032 - Josh Von

What up kids? After skipping out a week due to a stray duck we are very much back with our third cast made using Ableton Live software from Orlando's own Josh Von.
Here is a little on Josh
    :-

Music tends to follow DNA. When your great-grandfather is one of the founders of the New York City musicians union - your grandfather plays tenor sax with Benny Goodman and big bands of the 30s and 40s - your big brother studies flamenco guitar at a conservatory in Spain and has a 10 year residency for Andrew Loyd-Weber's 'Cats' and 'Phantom of the Opera' in Hamburg Germany ... something is probably going to rub off.

At 16 a beat up old Fender Stratocaster expressed a love of everything from rock to esoteric ambient and electronic. Eventually this path led to Musicians Institute in Hollywood during the early 90s, studying electric guitar and playing hair-raising heavy rock in dubious dark Los Angeles clubs.

Back on the east coast - playing the club circuit in bands of all styles - teaching kids Kirk Hammett leads to jazz chords - he formed the New York group Power Child with the Verner brothers. They had the persistance and good fortune to build a positive buzz with thier original alt-metal hard rock sound.

The band recorded demos in thier 32 track DAT studio - as well as many local bands - and the studio experience was to come in handy. By late 2002 new friendships and collaborations with other hardcore sorts in Florida and a chance encounter with a program called Ableton Live - sucked him full force into electronic music production and business.

Josh Von writes progressive electronic dance with a big room vibe, and electrotech flavored tracks and bootlegs under the moniker 'Vonster'.

He also does private digital audio work and Ableton Live consulting for some of the worlds best known DJs and producers - teaches DJ mixing and production with Ableton Live to Central Florida students - and on occasion works promotion and audio tasks for Involved Events Inc.. a venture devoted to showcasing the best global EDM talent for charitable causes.

In 2005 his bootleg remakes of 'Devo - Satisfaction (Josh Von mix)' and 'Petter/Mu - Petter vs Paris' (Josh Von unavailable mix)' gained postive attention from clubbers on dancefloors in Florida and around the globe. 2006 brings a number of projects to completion:

'Introvert - Wishful Longing (Josh Von 3-lime Remix)' will be available on Substrata Music through major online outlets early in the year - with 'Micah - Ein (Josh Von remix)' coming closer to summer. Original productions are completed, and are either awaiting release on labels TBA or in circulation as Jan 2006.
