I must have about 150 records i'm trying to flog, put up a list on hybridized and GU and only managed to get rid of about 20. I only want about ?1 for each one. I don't just want to throw them in the bin, they are all well known tunes.
What have people done in the past with their old vinyl? Cannot be bothered to go down the eBay route
... i went the ebay route a few times with success. I only take verified paypal and state that (several times I may add) in the auction. I also only except bids from people who have more than 5 positive and no negative feedback (no exceptions). I then just box the records and have UPS pick them up here. I just do everything online so I don't have to leave the house. Yeah, it's a pain to list them all but I figure they're not going anywhere anyway so what the hell. I sell them in lots of 10 to 15 and usually end up getting between $20 and $30 plus shipping... sometimes less, sometimes a little more but this is the average depending what's in a particular lot. Did a grab bag of 15 one time and just said they were a mix of tunes from the balance promote record pool, release records and juno and ended up getting $60...BUT, that was a couple of years back before the digital stores really had any impact. Now that most of my vinyl is two years and older I doubt that would work. Anyway, maybe I'll do a test this week and see what happens...

I used to list about 50-60 records at a time and the winning bidder got to choose any 10. This worked absolutely wonderfully until about the fifth time. Ebay closed the auction and told me I was not allowed to offer options. That was the end of selling vinyl on ebay for me.
who knows though, with so many people longing for the 2000-2003 sound, maybe these things would sell pretty well.
give them to someone you know that is just starting out. that's how i got started. a few friends put together like 200 old vinyls for me. spun those for like 2 years.

What record did you loose your virginity to?

I haven't unloaded a ton at one time, but I've weeded out my collection over time thanks to my local record stores, particularly my friend's store Evolving Records (www.evolvingrecords.com). If you're in the states, may want to visit the site and drop them a line - but keep in mind that I CAN'T speak for them as far as whether they will/won't accept, under what terms, etc.
dude I have a ton I'm trying to get rid of too.. damn seems like we are saturating the market!! I honestly don't know if I have time to make separate ebay auctions or even groups of 10.......
I too have a lot of old vinyl, some good quality trance that I perhaps will never play in a set or record, but they are all good classic hard to find now and I would never get rid of them. Ever.
You either keep'um, or if you dont want to bother with the whole selling to people, just give them away to someone you know will really take goood care of them and appreciate them.
I do however have some old hard house crap that; if I dont find someone who'll take them, wouldnt mind just tossing in "the recycle bin".
Just wait till
some purist phase revival returns
they be worth something again

Let me get this straight.
So white-middle class Americans have been told by their Television sets to be fearful of:
1. Mexicans/Latinos from the South bringing drugs and killings n' shit.
2. African Americans cause mos def they are raging a race war and want to occupy America like how the plebs occupied Wall St.
3. Iranians/Afghans/Any one of middle eastern origin to be quite frank, cause you know Islam...
4. North Koreans/Chinese cause you know everything...
