FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Three masked gunmen crashed their car into a vehicle carrying two diamond dealers, smashed open the dealers' windows and stole gems worth more than $1 million Friday, investigators said.
Jeffrey Weiss and Nathan Goldman, both 55 of New York City, were headed to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport for a flight home when the gunmen's car smashed into theirs, the Broward County Sheriff's Office said.
Three men wearing rubber masks and armed with guns and knives ran up, smashed the dealers' windows and grabbed a briefcase from the back seat containing the jewels, investigators said. The robbers then jumped back into their car and sped away.
Neither Weiss nor Goldman was seriously hurt.
