Great Jazz Fusion - Nils Petter Molv

I don't know if many others here have heard of this guy, but he is awesome. I happened to come across him just as his first cd came out and I think he would appeal to people on this board. He has a crazy jazz/rock/trip-hop/electronic fusion style. You definately should check out his first albumn Khmer on ECM. It has a bunch of feeback guitar, drum-machines, deep basslines and Nils plays the trumpet (with a Harmon mute most of the time) so it is an awesome sound. If you at all like any type of Miles duing his fusion phase, and are interested in any type of jazz with some electronic elements to it you should definately check this guy from Norway out, he rocks.
My favourite is his first cd below, "Khmer", I have probably listened to it 100 times since it came out back in '98, and it still sounds fresh today. Do yourself a favour and buy it.

Not really into jazz, but the fusion thing sure tickles my curiousity. Kinda like that shit, Blue Note stuff 'n' all, y'know...

this guy would sound pretty out of place next to some classic coletrane on blue note, but i bet if you checked this cd out you would like it if you want some experimental jazz that sounds fresh and different.

I have an open mind when it comes to music and sexual fetishes, but the problem I have with jazz is that it's... Well, it sounds too messy to me. It's probably me, but I don't see any structure in it. Especially when it comes to experimental jazz. I could be prejudiced, dunno...

i shouldnt say this is "experimental" when it comes to jazz, it isnt any ornatte coleman freeform crap that noodles on for 45 minutes. there is structure and rhythm to all of the tunes on that cd, and a few of them kick some good ass

I've got his "Solid Ether" album - it's a tribute 70's Mile Davis and well worth checking out.

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.

time for me to bump this thread again as this cd had about 3 tracks played from it on this weeks episode of nip/tuck. that gives me an excuse to talk about it again and for everyone here to go buy it.
