    I hate CD burners

What is the chance of three different computers having their CD burners not work all of a sudden?

Of course it had to happen to me. I havent had any new CDs to listen to in the longest time, I dont even have my mp3player for the car since that got stolen, its like someone is trying to tell me not to listen to music!

Anyways my point is does anyone have any recommendations on what could have happened? All the drivers are installed properly, and says active. One computer is a HP Pavillion only maybe 1.5 yrs old, a Compaq Presario maybe 3 yrs old, and a Dell laptop about 4 yrs old but barely used. Only two share a cable connection.

Edit: Ooops I forgot...isnt there a computer techie area on here, can someone move this there for me please

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

Back in the Spring we did but the Compaq was not hooked up to any electric sources at that time...it was just on a desk. The main HP however had the fan or something get messed up due to the surge, but the burner did work after that. Could it have a delayed affect or is that dumb to even ask.

could be the Windows IMAPI service presuming it's XP...could be the program you're trying to use...I mean if Device Manager says it's active and working, then they are, just something doesn't want to connect through to them very well.
