they can have the tech if they would simply act like every other UN member nation with nuclear power capabilities...... allow international inspections and oversight. the US does it, the UK does it, Russia does it, india does it... shall i go on. international leadership doesnt want a rogue nation with a leader who calls for death to jews to be operating the programme in secret to one day have another cold war type standoff. but islamic nations arent exactly peaceful. every nation around isreal has attacked it, ever little sect fights each other and the more progressive muslim nations get critiqued. so yeah, stop them until they want to show their cards.

Agree. It's obvious that Iran wants nuclear technology for military purposes only. The fact that they don't allow inspections and go against the rulings of the UN and the IAEA says enough.

Just a simple question I'd like to see answered: WHY SHOULD IRAN HAVE NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS???

1. Iran sits on a shitload of oil. In other words: they'll be one of the last to run out of fossil fuel. Why invest in an alternative energy source then?

2. Oh that's right: oil will run out in the long run. Well, why invest in nuclear energy as alternative then when the rest of the world is slowly abandoning it? Hell, during the past few years the EU hasn't built any new nuclear power plants. On the contrary even: we're shutting them down or have implemented shut down scenarios for the long term. Instead we're investing in wind and solar energy. Now, tell me why Iran shouldn't go for solar? They have plenty of useless desert to place panels in, don't they?

That said, Iran is far too unpredictable to even have the possibility of military use of nuclear technology. I mean hello, a country which funds a terrorist organisation??? If Iran is such a peaceful and well meaning nation, why then have 350 Iranian refugees started a hunger strike today in Belgium to force the government to grant them asylum?

Just imagine the scale of the Lebanon conflict if Iran would have had nukes for instance...

As for the solution to the problem: I haven't got a clue. An embargo doesn't work (just look at Cuba, NK or any other country which got slapped with an (international) embargo). Using force then? That would be like opening a can of worms the size of Antartica imo.

I don't think you have to ask yourself questions about the US military only. The entire West will be affected by the consequences. It will be the perfect excuse for fundamentalists and terrorists to start a global war. And mind you: this will not be army against army with some collateral civilian losses. Fundi organisations will set off explosives on key locations all over the West making no difference between civilian or military targets. The answer of the West to that will be obvious: we'll bomb the shit out of anything in the ME that has a heartbeat.

i call em like i see em. im not going to be PC for the sake of being PC. the last country i want to see with a nuke warhead is one where the people carry rifles in the streets, and sharia rules. obviously, they have historically been the most violent peoples. i know its a pot calling kettle, in that my country is still the only one to use them, but look back, did the world really have any other option?

The fact that the US is the only country ever to drop a nuke isn't a reason for any country to claim the right to own a nuke. Neither is the "they have it, so we can have it to" bullshit.

agreement. its only that i hate the fact that someone always tends to bring up the fact that the USA is the only one to actually use them in agruements against them. it was a different time, a different period, and frankly, every discovery and history channel i watch about it, hosts ex military guys and they all say there was no other choice. it was past negotiations, and couldnt be won militarily without them.

personally i wouldnt mind the UN taking them all and holding them in one place, b/c one day, there will be another hitler, and it might come down to it. god forbid.
