everyone watch the video linked in the article. just look at the sense of sadness and somberness in the DA's voice. he looks like he just saw his worst nightmare of just found out when and how he is going to die. i think he did.

that'd be a good start to check on...had a case out here where a child was beaten repeatedly by her (now-dead in a suicide) biological mother, yet the DSS never caught on to it...now the kid's nearly coma-dead and the state/taxpayers get to foot the bill to keep her alive.

Not that a DSS/foster/child care service is ever perfect to begin with, but too many of them are so piss-poor run now, that it's hard to keep up.

If you want to drive a car, you need to pass a theoretic and a practical exam in order to get a drivers license. But when it comes to bringing children into this world, any fertile idiot can start breeding at will. Maybe it would be better to let future parents pass some tests too to make sure they're capable of raising one or more kids.

When you want to adopt a kid, it's standard procedure. The child protection service will screen you and look into your entire personal life before they (might) give you permission.

You wouldnt believe how many times I have said exactly that! Doesnt sound stupid at all!

People that treat other people like that (child or adult) really outside the realm of good vs. bad as most of this world knows it, no matter where you live. No animal species treats it's offspring like that as far as I know - you have to be human to do this kind of shit.
