for those who dont know, chritiano di matta is a champ car driver who had a terrible accident...kinda....
the champ cars are similar to F1 cars in that they are the carting style as opposed to redneck nascar. this poor guy was doing a test drive at road america and a deer wandered onto the course. mind you, the champ cars are only about 2.5-3 feet off the ground. well, he hit that deer at roughly 200 mph. the car's body forced the deer's body straight over the front wing, and directly at di matta's head. imagine a deer crushing your head against a carbon fiber wall at 200mph. well he is has been in the hospital for over a month now and is finally beginning to show signs of progress, he is speaking in both english and portuguese, and starting to walk with assistance. i cannot imagine what is was like to witness this. but thank god he is alive, and hopefully, will be back in a year or so.
