                            yeah i saw that on the news last night...they had a pathologist saying that pullin it out is what may have really killed him....he said that if he had left it in there was a small chance they would be able to save him...but once u pull itout the real damage was done to the heart....

                                that would have been an *extremely* painful way to go...they interviewed a guy on cnn who is an employee at a marine zoo and had been stung by a ray in the hand. he said he'd rather have a hammer smash his hand than go through the pain that was involved with getting stung...and thats just in the hand!! imagine getting it in the chest...

                                sad day, always tragic when someone with such a zest for life goes too young

                                                the dumbest thing to come out of this is that yesterday i left CNN on the tube while i was cleaning up the mess from the floods, and all they were spouting on about is the ''new threat'' of stingray deaths and the danger they pose.....

                                                dude, there have been 4 cases worldwide since 1900, and the one that hit him is even more rare in the fact that it was extremly large. most of the ones that anyone in the northern hemisphere will find weigh between 5 and 20 pounds.

                                                    Thom Pace "Maybe" Loved the "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams" series and the title music as a kid. For us they translated the title of the series to "The man from the mountains" though. Only the Lord knows why...

                                                    His end was worse than Irvine's though I bet. R.I.P. Mr. Irvine..it's sad he could not prevent this with all his experience.

                                                        ye well, he was of course way too young to go croc hunting with Saint Peter, but on the other hand I think he couldn't have thought of a better way to go. Suppose he'd gotten in a car accident and had to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair eating and pissing through a tube... I'd know what to chose if I was him.

                                                            Sad news, he was a great entertainer and very dedicated to conservation. Only way to go for him, just a bit too early with those kids he had.
