    Brighton Chilli

I've rolled a Freesbie which contains everything needed to
setup up a managed wifi hotspot.

Download the .tgz file from http://brightonchilli.geeklan.co.uk.nyud.net:8080/
    Uncompress
    Burn the .iso
Boot a system off the burnt disk
follow the basic guide included in the .tgz file to get get everything rolling.

      Re: Brighton Chilli

Well, you have 2 options, If you want your computer to act as a access point, you need a wifi card with the following chipsets:
      Aironet 4500/4800 802.11 wireless NICs.
      BayStack 660 and others
      Ralink Technology RT2500 wireless NICs.
WaveLAN/Intersil/Symbol 802.11 wireless NICs. (Orinoco & Prism Chipset)
Older non 802.11 Wavelan wireless NIC.

I'll be added support for Atheros & Ti chipsets in the next release,
If you already have a hardware access point you just need 2 networks card inside your machine.
      The following chipsets are supported:
      DEC/Intel DC21x4x (``Tulip'')
Intel PRO/1000 adapter Gigabit Ethernet Card
      Intel PRO/10GbE Ethernet Card
      3Com 3cR990 (``Typhoon'')
      3Com 3c590, 3c595 (``Vortex'')
      Broadcom BCM440x 10/100 Ethernet
      Broadcom BCM570xx Gigabit Ethernet
      DEC/Intel 21143 and various workalikes
      Intel EtherExpress PRO/100B (82557, 8255
      Level 1 LXT1001 gigabit Ethernet
      NatSemi DP83820 gigabit Ethernet
nVidia nForce MCP on-board Ethernet Networking
AMD Am79C97x PCI 10/100(precedence over 'lnc')
      RealTek 8139C+/8169/8169S/8110S
      RealTek 8129/8139
      Adaptec AIC-6915 (``Starfire'')
Silicon Integrated Systems SiS 900/SiS 7016
      SysKonnect SK-984x & SK-982x gigabit Ethernet
      Sundance ST201 (D-Link DFE-550TX)
Alteon Networks Tigon I/II gigabit Ethernet
      Texas Instruments ThunderLAN
      SMC EtherPower II (83c170 ``EPIC'')
      VIA VT612x gigabit Ethernet
      VIA Rhine, Rhine II
      Winbond W89C840F
      3Com 3c90x (``Boomerang'', ``Cyclone'')
      Crystal Semiconductor CS89x0 NIC
      NE[12]000, SMC Ultra, 3c503, DS8390 cards
      Intel EtherExpress Pro/10 and Pro/10+
      Etherlink III based cards
      Fujitsu MB8696x based cards
      EtherExpress 8/16, 3C507, StarLAN 10 etc.
      NE2100, NE32-VL Lance Ethernet cards
SMC's 9000 series of Ethernet chips
      Xircom pccard Ethernet

PC spec wise anything from a 486 & above, need atleast 16 or 32mb ram, you don't need a harddisk inside the machine, just boot of the CD & issue a couple of commands & off you go. I'll hopefully automate the whole process within the next couple of releases so you just need to boot off the cd & answer & couple of question & that's it, you're up & running, there is a txt file included with the iso which tells you what you need to do to get going.

Try it & let me know what you think.
