    Another sad day for Aussies...

It's been a big week for Australia.

Car racing leged Peter Brock has just been reported dead. "Known as 'Peter Perfect' and the 'King of the Mountain', Brock won the Bathurst 1000 nine times in the 1970s and 1980s and won the 1979 race by a record six laps."

For Australians, Peter Brock was as big a household name as Steve Irwin was, if not bigger.

Peter Brock died on the first day of a 4 day rally in the Australian outback, his car hit a tree.

It's pretty ironic that both Peter Brock and Steve Irwin died in their chosen professions, doing what they love.

    RIP Brocky.

This is actually the third Icon we've lost this week. Colin Thiele was not as well known perhaps, but he was a truly amazing person. Brilliant author, and on educational and enviromental issues he was way, way ahead of his time. The australian film Stormboy was from one of his books. If you can find it, check it out, it's a really beautiful film.

I've read Schooling the Child: The Making of Students in Classrooms
during my study - it was one of those "off books" where you knew you would learn from a different perspective - Australia is known to be way ahead on educational issues - pretty bold I might say!
