    P&R Suggestion: Forum restructure?

here's what I'd like to see.
    1. set 3-4 moderators specific to this forum
    2. create subforums A-Z, then one for all major DJs
    3. all threads are allowed to be posted only directly to the main P&R forum
    4. immediately after a thread has been posted, a moderator moves it to the DJ's subforum (or the letter subforum root if the subforum doesn't exist for the DJ)
    5. the moderator sets a redirect for 1 week.

this would be rad... and we'd all see some cool benefits by doing it.
    1. (cool) all DJ sets would be grouped in one forum
    2. (cooler) old sets won't constantly flood to the top of the main forum view. once a redirect is set, the thread stops moving to the top of the list.
    3. (coolest) the newest-posted sets would always be at the top of the page. we would never have to wonder if we have already seen a thread
    4. (also cool) all thread redirects would expire from our view after a week, so we would only have at most a 3-4 pages dynamic list of new sets in front of our eyes
    5. would also be nice to have a sticky in each artists thread with contact/website/myspace info so anybody that visits that forum for sets would have a direct link to the artist site to check for other sets/gigs/etc

what do you guys think? I think this would benefit everybody so much. no more wondering if you have already seen a set download, no more having old threads bump up in front of the new ones, and all djs are filtered by name... it would bring organization to this dumping ground

I guess the only downside to doing this is if you bump a thread older than a week old, nobody would see your reply unless they went straight to the DJ's subforum... but most replies are "thanks" or "I hate rapidshare"

    Re: P&R Suggestion: Forum restructure?

great ideas. one thought i have is that All new posts.. new or old sets alike should stay on the front page for a couple of days so that everyone knows what just got posted in the last 2 days for example.. then after the grace period.. the mod move it to its respectable place.

just something i thought of right off the bat.

edit; jsut read #3.. somehow i skipped over it.. all of it sounds really good to me. would love to help any way i can.

ddr, if we do it the way I suggested it'll be exactly how you described it. the redirects don't bump back to the top of the list, so we'll see all the newest sets at the very top of the list counting backward until the redirect expires... at which time the thread will only exist in the artist forum, and not in the main index

Just to clarify, this is just the the P & R, not the "members" section... right?

                Re: P&R Suggestion: Forum restructure?

Sounds like a good idea pickle. It would eliminate double post all the time of the same sets.

absolutely. This sounds great! Will someone be monitoring old posts so once links are expired or dead, the post could be deleted? Just wondering if there will be a way to filter through each Djs indiviual forum and knowing if the threads are good or not?
