University of Phoenix Online

has anyone here attended this university or know anyone that has? i just started taking classes there online and was looking for some general feedback if anyone went or is going there.

i took an online class @Umass amherst last summer.
it was a science journalism class and i got to set up online interviews w/some lab people over in CA. kinda fun, but the class was wicked expensive.
we also had to do message board stuff for discussions and i had a real hard time taking the internet seriously and not telling my classmates to STFU

yeah i have to use a message board. it's really hard for me to not use profanity there.

those schools are really expensive, and it seems to me that they pressure you into attending....they told a friend of mine, who is like 55 years old to take out a student loan to attend school...haha, a student loan at age 55...those guidance counselors are really just sales people who try to sell you....

generally when a HR sees a online degree(unaccredited ones) they'll usually toss your resume to the recycle bin... but depends on what you do i guess...

well i'm going into financial planning at my father's firm, so the resume doesnt matter. i'm 23, not 55, so i have a lot of time to repay the loans. and i have to work for everything i get, i had to take out a lot of money in loans to go here so that i can work full time during the week.

The only online U I've seen that I (personally) would even give a shred of value to is Penn State... (http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu). I'm not knocking any other online education resource or anyone who has used them but if i was in H.R. and looking at applicant A with a degree from Penn State or applicant B with a degree from the U of Phoenix.... well. No matter what you do though there's no wrong answer for continuing education.
