    Gas prices going down

I know the experts say its the law of supply and demand and other factors, but I find it not coincidental that the November elections are less than 2 months away. Is it too wild to think that the government and the oil producers collude to keep themselves in power and stay rich?

            2. African Americans cause mos def they are raging a race war and want to occupy America like how the plebs occupied Wall St.

                sigh.......

mass media getting to everyone here.

                few factors.
                1. iran has opened up to the UN a little more
                2. the isreali/lebanon conflist wrapped up
                3. the US and saudi arabia agreed to loosen spot tariffs on oil exports
                4. this all happened within 5 days of the largest oil find in our hemispshere, so logically, the OPEC boys realized they are gonna lose a lot of business and furthermore, once they get the US oil feild operating a few years, they are going to loose BILLIONS in foreign aid and foreign income simply because they wont be worth the trouble anymore.

with the current market place rapidly expanding into new suppliers, the existing ones are slowly changing. trust me, watch the middle eastern governments change when the North American oil sources are implemented. we wont need them nearly as much if the scientists are right in saying the feild in the atlantic might be bigger than most of the middle eastern feilds. this will hurt the royal families wallets and drive the price down as they offer cheaper prices to europe and asia to keep them clients.

I think you are right in the long run. If the mania over Peak oil is over now or slightly in the future is hard to say. But your logic is spot on.

can it be possible that they ( oil companies and goverments ) are getting scared because of development of alternate energy sources?

Not too wild, although it could be something less overt. I was listening to the radio this morning, and someone advanced the idea that energy companies might realize that part of the reason the public is none to happy with the current government is that gas prices are seen as being too high. They may also realize that the party's over if the Dems take back Congress. Ergo, they might drop their prices on their own in the hopes that it could increase the chances that the people they like to be in power stay in power.

Seems reasonable to me. Or it could be the things sightless mentioned. Or outright collusion. Or something else. Wouldn't surprise me at all to find that there's more than just market forces at work, though...

Plus BP announced that it will start pumping in Alaska again. That field was out for weeks because of a pipe rupture.

ultimately, they'll start pumping though; I'm pretty sure the rupture et Al has been fixed....not everything else along the way, but enough to start going full speed again

It'll also depend on how quickly they can get this new source up and running...quickly of course being in years here...in the meantime things fluctuate and the like as the seasons and markets progress.
