there is a LOT to this. and seriously, it has to do with arod not having the mattingly/jeter factor. the man doesnt realize that by playing a sports, you automatically become hated by some people. add in the fact that when he was younger, and dominating the sport stat wise, the guy he criticized proved he was the best player in baseball by winning 4 rings. and here in NY, if you trash jeter, its similar to what the pope got into this week. its simply not kosher. arod needs something to happen, nothing serious, that embarrasses him, and gets his mind off things. i.e. have melky run in from left feild and give him a wedgie on national TV. he never learns to simply give it a rest. he seemed like he got the idea when a few weeks ago he woke up with the batting and for a few days in post game interviews he wouldnt give any answer outside of ''im seeing the ball better and swinging better'' with this little smirk. then BOOM this article comes out. he tries constantly to defend himself in positions he cant. particularly noting that moose isnt liked a ton in the clubhouse, and mentioned the crosswords that moose is known to do rather than talking. well alex, its because he is a pitcher first, an EXTREMELY eduacated person(moose finished an economics degree from stanford in under 3 years) and is moody. moose has never once opened his mouth unless he is trashing his own performance, and has pitched like a MONSTER for us.

he needs to fire his PR people and hire a NY cop/fireman/sanitation worker to do his PR work. he just has this air about him where he doesnt realize that, as the great don mattingly once said "the people in NY have seen it all, they dont want to hear from you, they want you to shut up and game. its all they want''

no one knows why the guy who is arguably the most naturally taleneted baseball player since mickey mantle cannot just realize he is and relax. there isnt a person who watched baseball for the last 10 years that doesnt realize he is capable of DESTROYING every record in the books outside of the hit streak and 400, yet, he doesnt.

the only time i have ever heard jeter utter a bad word about anyone was when they interviewed him about joe torre and jeter replied, "if you dont respect mr. torre, than you are out of your mind''

that's jsut the way it is. if asked about someone else, derek says ''go ask him'' arod will give you a scouting report.

nice read.... was listening to the dan patrick show today and peter gammons (glad he's back) talked about this at some length and what would have happened had he gone to boston as a shortstop and out of jeters shadow... these stories just really show the insecurity that arod has which is such a shame with the overall talent involved....

Giambi, admitted cheater, who has worse career and season stats than Arod, calling him out like that is laughable "Arod has false confidence..." really Jason? btw, for a guy who has the career stats Arod has, and last year's MVP no less, this year...batting .286, with 34 home runs and 116 ribbies..


THOSE AREN'T BAD NUMBERS FFS!!! He might be having an off Arod year, but those are still all star numbers. Giambi couldn't carry Arod's jock strap.

guysm this is a lot more about the media, if you watch the YES network like i do, the team, for the most part, dont care. yeah they want him to get a big hit, but the side stuff never once has come to a head from the players. torre addressed it on the radio, but thats about it. the team isnt against him, its jsut that some of them arent accepting him as a best friend and then he puts his foot in his mouth.

but be very very cautious here, cuz if he ever loosens up, or finds a reason to buck down, look out. you'll see him hit a lot homers with giambi and abreau on base.

the thing is, Arod has been ''yes'd'' to death all his career, so he never learned. he never has any malicious intent, but he just says things the wrong way? he looks for excuses instead of saying ''im sucking right now'', and when people ask him about relationships he thinks he is a shrink. he says he is intelligent, but yet, he never went to college. he says people hate him because he is a bi-racial, good looking, high paid athlete. well, he shoudl realize when he says that, NY media looks 40 feet to the right and sees a bi racial, good looking high paid athlete that never once put himself in the bad positions alex does. and that guy,.... well his resume speaks for itself. never once has lead a stat category, but everyone on the planet knows there isnt another person in the league you want in the batters box with a man on second in the 9th during a tie game. Arod wants to be liked as jeter is, but he tries to convince people of it. rather than shutting up, smiling and gaining focus.

the YES network has this lady reporter named kim jones, she is a newbie to the reporting industry and everyone called her eye candy early on because she asked fluff questions and was there to make the easy stuff look big... whatever. she obviously got pissd off at one point b/c she has had a penchant in the second half of asking questions that piss off players b/c they are tough and any answer makes someone look bad.

soo..... she is in the lockeroom after the game, in the midst of the celebration...she gets jeter to do the interview... she gives the typical ''how does it feel? 9 in a row. blah blah"

then all of a sudden, a hand grabs jeter and hugs him and leaves.. it was arod.
she comes out , right to jeter

''wow a hug between you and alex, who would have thought we would ever see you two hug like that with all the events?"
<--that was me. she is an employee of the yankees and just called out thier captain on the big issue.,

and in typical jeter fashion

''aaah,all that stuff is you guys and the papers. it doesnt come in here, we've hugged a bunch of times, we have been here for awhile now.'' then he smiles, and jumps on the pile with arod.
