    cajmere VS Green Velvet

    BRING IT ON MOTHERFUCKER!

    Quote:
Get ready to jack. Chicago's Cajmere and his flamboyant alter ego Green Velvet battle it out on the latest Sessions mix for Ministry of Sound released in November.

Curtis Jones aka Cajmere and Green Velvet is one of the true greats of Chicago house. In the nineties, his label Cajual was pivotal in the Chicago house renaissance exemplified by the Cajmere single 'Brighter Days' with vocalist Dajae. Jones later formed the sub-label Relief to showcase his flambuoyant alter ego Green Velvet, said to be inspired by Prince and Kraftwerk. As Green Velvet he produced house and techno with quirky spoken word vocals such as 'Preacher Man', 'Flash' and 'Answering Machine'. His second Green Velvet album is best known for the single 'La la land' - a tribute to the wonders of ecstasy - while the current third album has produced the catchy single 'Shake and Pop'.

On Disc 1 of the Sessions compilation, Cajmere steps up to the decks to provide a mix that combines classic jackin' beats and soulful vocals with remixes from Ferrer & Sydenham, James Holden and Switch. On the second disc, Jones spikes up his neon green mohawk and delivers a darker, tougher mix as Green Velvet with cuts from Soulwax and Fedde Le Grand. It also includes the classic Armand Van Helden mix of Sneaker Pimps' 'Spin Spin Sugar'. Cajmere and Green Velvet productions feature heavily on both CDs.

yeah I remember seeing Green Velvet live in tampa with the Rejects playing the beats and such. holy shite that was raw. I think they totally destroyed the sound system that night. my girlfriend at the time developed a migraine during the show, I thought I was going to lose her there.
