Depends what you mean by a legitimate source. These tapes where mix tapes that where recorded a various events across the country. They where then put on to cassettes and distributed around the country. Had they been legitimate releases they would of been cataloged and listed within the music industry. They would also appear with track listings and also appear on DJ's and other web site's like Discogs. Some of the people who made these tapes would put a logo on the back of the tapes saying that the cassettes where copywriten. To make the tapes look as legitimate as possible. Manley to prevent other people copying the tapes and distributing them them self. Just because it says copy wight on the box it dosnt mean it is. The other problem people had making these tape was that the artists who where featured on the tapes didn't give permission for the tracks to be used and certainly weren't payed. So the artist could demand money from the person who made the tapes.
