those are all great, admitted, but tyrant's 2000 emix stands out for me head and shoulders above the others, at least for the last 5-6 yrs.

so many good ones tho. hawtin's one from 2001 (or maybe it was 2002) is fvcking ridiculous, techno the way it should be

Aside from many of those already posted (just about any Sasha &/or Digweed set, Moshic and sander 2001)

              Future Sound of London 1993
Paul Oakenfold live at Space, Ibiza Jul-1999 (before he bought into the cheese and put thought into his sets)
              Richard Dorfmeister 2001
Danny Howells 2002 (where's the love for this leftfield mix?)
              Tom Middleton 2005
              Ben Watt 2005

and from the last year or so, we'll just have to see if they stand the test of time: Francois K, M.A.N.D.Y., Ame, Booka Shade, Damien Lazarus...
"Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.

Live like it's Heaven on Earth."

Absolutely. This is probably my fav. It came about right when I discovered EDM & holds a very special place with myself & close loved ones. Oh how I wish to hear that set on a dark starry night in Ibiza on the old space terrace...or even inside Space...absolute magic...

                  That along with Sander's '01, P&W '00, & S&D's WMC '02...those all pwn me...

Pete Heller & Terry Farley from 1993. Some of the suggestions here are just laughable.

Why? because YOU don't like them? Everybody is entitled to enjoy what they want to enjoy, Just because you might think some suggestions aren't "cool" doesn't make them laughable. What is infact laughable is the size of your ego, you really need to climb out of your own arse.

Oh do calm down ffs, I happen to like all the essential mixes listed on here, and its nothing to do with looking cool or anything like that ( Arguably my favourite track of all time is Relight My Fire by Dan Hartman, not many people would admit to that Im sure ), its about being open to all types of music. If this thread was entitled best progressive house essential mix then fine, but are you honestly telling me that the Delta Heavy or Maida Vale mixes are better than say the Danny Howells or the Dope Smugglaz mixes? if so then Im truly baffled...

Dope Smugglaz? Are you having a laugh? What you don't seem to understand is that yes, some people actually DO like progressive house above all other genres, and they are entitled to do so without being ridiculed by elitists such as yourself. So yes, i would certainly say that Maida Vale is way beyond Howells' mix, as for Dope Smugglaz, well i really wouldn't like to comment.

And yes, i am very aware that Sasha's Maida Vale mix isn't progressive house.

OK, people that I have been out to see in the past year or so and ENJOYED listening to -

                            Sasha
                            John Digweed
                            Richie Hawtin
                            Paolo Mojo
                            Nic Fanciulli
                            Stanton Warriors
                            Plump DJ's
                            Neil Quigley
                            Hernan Cattaneo
                            Terry Francis
                            Dave Seaman
                            Nick Warren

and I was also lucky enough to see Radiohead 2wice.

Now tell me, how is that being elitist?

So why make a comment that peoples suggestions in this thread are laughable? i don't particularly like all the DJ's you mentioned there, i mean Richie Hawtin bores me to tears but he is an excellent artist and has my utmost respect and if you enjoy him then fair play, i won't ridicule it, each to their own....

I didn't like that Ibiza Oakenfold set, not sure why. The best one he's done is his first world tour, from Home in Sydney. It's brilliant the way he plays Narcotik-Blue at the start and you can hear the crowd saying stuff like 'Go on Oakey' just a classic e-mix moment.
