that catch last night, was one of the single greatest feilding plays you will ever see, period. unfortunetly, i was in the car for it and the radio call was INSANE> so i ran inside to see it. that is the kind of play that will destroy a team's momentum. but somehow (rolen)the cards pushed back and got heilman shaken up a touch...

It was a great game last night. Great ptiching and kept it close till the 9th. And then when all seemed lost for the Mets.... it comes down to that same scenario! Bottom of 9th, bases loaded, 2 outs.....
Great game, this is why we watch sports. Unfortunately the Met didn't get the big hit when they needed it. The Cards however played great baseball and are a very strong balanced team, they deserve to be where they are. I'm disappointed but looking forward, the Mets have a young core and I think this is just the beginning.
now you are getting why i am the way i am when it comes to baseball and the NBA...
pure, untouched, emotion and excitement. not tainted by anything. between the lines, things are innocent, pure and a great way to escape the harsh realities of life. baseball is life is so many ways. but it somehow can prove that things are bigger, especially when you think about a guy who passed away in an accident 3 days after playing, showing us that it really is just a game, but oh so much more.

Reminded me of a catch edmonds made a year or two ago @ the old Busch. Ran to the wall, leaped, and put his glove out of sight over the wall as he extended and snatched it from the other side. When he dropped back to the dirt, he looked in his glove, and you could see him say with a shocking look on his face, "I CAUGHT IT, I CAUGHT IT, HAHA" They ran that highlight all year long, and at the closing days of Busch when they were running highlights at all the games. What made last nights better was the scene- game 7, NLCS, tied...and Chavez kept it tied AND made the double play. Amazing.
And some people say baseball is boring.
To me it's the greatest sport on earth. MLB > nfl, nhl, ncaa, nba, etc.

That catch was just ridiculous. Add the importance of making it at that moment, in a tied game in the NLCS, and it is just all the more unbelievable. I thought we'd be hard-pressed to come back after that.

Yep, and the guy at the plate has had the most postseason success against the Cardinals apart from some old-timer named Babe Ruth. When Beltran came up to bat with the bases loaded, I just cringed -- thought we might get some payback for temporarily breaking the hearts of Houston fans last year.
