FUTURISM: Steve Gerrard / Nigel Marcussen - 03/09/04

We?ve decided to go back to where we started , Sub Ember, in Farringdon for the next installment of our one off parties. With Ember being under new management and us being able to get our hands on a system that will tear the place apart we didn?t think there was anywhere better suited to the kind of party we?re trying to achieve.

On Friday September 3rd we?re very proud to welcome Steve Gerrard (Wrecked Angle/Bedrock) for a very special three hour set, as this will be his last anywhere in the World before the official UK release of his much anticipated debut compilation ?Thinking Out Loud?, less than 72 hours after he destroys the Futurism dance floor.

Supporting Steve will be Nigel Marcussen. After treating us to an amazing set of his own twisted beats back in April we couldn?t wait to get him back, so for those that have experienced his sets before you know what to expect, and for those that haven?t here?s your chance, as he will be playing a two hour set from 9-11:00pm.

We are only doing ?one off? parties every few months so please come down and show your support for Steve and Nigel and make this night one to remember. You won?t be disappointed ????

Hope to see you all there....

    Steve Gerrard (www.stevegerrard.net) :

?When Steve Gerrard thinks, people notice. However he likes to do his thinking via his skills on the decks and he?s not one to shy away from the crowd. This boy likes to think loud.? (Simon Jones, Headrushmusic.com)

Ever since hearing Sasha and Digweed?s seminal 1994 Renaissance album and being inspired by leftfield?s ?Song of Life?, Steve Gerrard hasn?t looked back. Steve first came to prominence in 1998 when he won the much coveted and prestigious ?Muzik? magazine?s ?Bedroom Bedlam? competition and then two years later won the Ericsson Award for Best Bedroom bedlam DJ.

Since then Steve has rocked the dance floors of clubs across the World, including, Bedrock (London), Code (Birmingham), Spundae (WMC), Giant (LA), Fluid (Hong Kong), Gas Club (Sydney) and El Campo (Argentina). Steve?s mixes have been showcased on John Digweed?s Kiss 100 show, Pete Tong?s Essential Selection and Annie Nightingales Radio 1 breaks show.

As well as DJing Steve also produces as one half of Wrecked Angle and Filta with Wrecked Angle being responsible for what was widely heralded as one of the best remixes of 2003, their reworking of the classic ?Age Of Love? was played across the board and was the highlight of Sasha?s historic return to Renaissance, after 10 years, at Pacha, Ibiza in September 2003.

2004 is set to be the biggest of Steve?s career to date, a year which kicked off with him being invited by John Digweed to join him on his Bedrock University Tour which proved to be a massive success. The year will culminate with the launch of Steve?s first compilation CD, titled ?Thinking Out Loud?, a double CD which showcases Steve?s own unique sound. July and August will see Steve touring extensively across Asia and the US promoting the release of his ?Thinking Out Loud? compilation.

However, Steve returns to the UK at the end of August and will be ?thinking out loud?, destroying the Futurism dance floor on Friday September 3rd????????the countdown has begun.

    Nigel Marcussen (www.nigelmarcussen.com) :

After having first taken up DJing in 2001, when Nigel moved to London, he quickly made a name for himself playing at some of London?s best underground nights and then in 2003 really came to the fore, taking Europe by storm by wowing crowds wherever he played.

Catching the eye of promotors who saw the reaction of the these crowds, Nigel was invited to rock the dancefloors of clubs across Europe including Turnmills in London, Kerma in Helsinki, Klatka in Warsaw and Citadella in Budapest. As a result of a particularly successful tour of Poland Nigel is now monthly resident and promoter of Poland?s ?Tribalis-Totalis?. These tours have seen Nigel play alongside some of the best in the business, touring alongside the likes of Slacker, Rowan Blades (Breeder), Steve Lawler and Anthony Pappa.

Nigel?s mixes are met with amazement by whoever hears them, not least those at IDJ Magazine who described Nigel?s third CD, ?Grind? (March 2003) as ?a winning formula of the decidedly unformulaic?.a set that will get him noticed???..and noticed he was.
