After toiling over different vehicles for a while, including an unfortunate stint when I was even considering purchasing a Hummer H3, I took the plunge and got a new ride over the weekend. My last couple of vehicles have been Wranglers, but I was starting to get to a point where it just wasn't very practical anymore. After my Jeep was broken into last weekend, I decided it was time to find something that I could actually secure, and that could hold stuff if need be. Sooooooo, I decided upon -- yet another Wrangler! I got a 2007 Unlimited Sahara.
Check it out (pic is from my phone, BTW, so bear with it):
Evidently, these things just started hitting showrooms in the last week or so, so the break-in was actually pretty timely. The soft top is on there now, but I've got a hard top on the way, and I'll have that in about three weeks. The hard top on these new ones is modular, so you can take off just part of it rather than having it be an all or nothing situation. Want some sun but need to keep the back enclosed? No prob. Feel like having it open but want to keep the sun off your face? You can do that, too. Hell, even if I want the sunlight but my passenger doesn't, it can be done. Very versatile, to say the least.
Suffice it to say, I'm pretty stoked. This is unlike any Wrangler I've ever had before -- power windows, power locks, keyless entry and security system, but you can still remove the doors, lay down the windshield, etc. Having 4 doors is a huge change as well, and the amount of room in the back is comparable with normal SUVs, because the back seats fold flat. It even rides, better, and it has built-in Sirius radio and a jack for my iPod. What's more, it can still handle just about any terrain you can throw at it -- I watched as they ran it up and down a pile a boulders at the dealership that most people would never dream of trying to navigate.
If you've ever wanted a Wrangler but thought they just weren't practical, I can't recommend this thing enough...
