What they're doing is sending out pieces of known literature. The theory goes that they're trying to botch up the spam filters now to start producing false positives, which will hopefully allow more spam through.
That's the reasoning I've heard, it seems quite far fetched for the spammers to do, but makes complete sense seeing as though they're sending out excerpts of texts (apparently in the public domain) with no alterior motive on the emails.
