Bingo. See some post I made about it in one of the Moore threads. I'm an American citizen (Texan, actually - far worse ), but I am in Germany for grad school...or beer, whichever happens to be the course of the night.

i'm not really from czech republic as the flag indicates to my right...i just think it's one of the coolest countries on the planet.

I live like 2-3 hours from the German/Czech border. Prague is the coolest fucking city I've ever visited. Best beer on earth, very cool clubs, and some of the most beautiful women in Europe - not that I can do more than just window shop, but it's nice to see them around.

4 weeks until my next visit. :P

    (sorry for the thread hijack)

For me, the senate and house elections would be a good enough motivation to drag my ass out of bed. However, being an overseas voter, I am *only* allowed to vote in the presidential election. Furthermore, I was last registered in Texas, so it's not like it matters who I even vote for. Bush is all but guaranteed those 32 electoral votes.

And on top of that, I agree more and more with your sentiment every day, with every additional bit I read about Kerry - there is not much difference between Kerry and Bush, effectively. Minor differences at best - Kerry is the "lesser of two evils" in that he's not a religious nut. But how will their policies (that are important to me) effectively turn out? Not that different. In the beginning, I'll admit that I did buy into that "not Bush" ideology with Kerry - when I didn't know a damn thing about him.

And don't even get me started on Nader. Some decent ideas, but a *horrible* presidential candidate.

So who is left? So what's the motivation? I don't buy that "you can't bitch if you don't vote" crap. If there is nobody I want to vote for, then I "vote" with my inactivity. I'm not going to vote for somebody I don't like (Nader) just out of protest. Both of the candidates are losers - just look at the amount of bullshit that their respective campaigns focus on. No substance. They have no real leg to stand on, so they parade their past military records (which Kerry *was* ashamed of 30 years ago) and Iraqi & Afghan athletes (who don't want to be paraded).

But I still haven't 100% decided - I might still go through all the bullshit involved with overseas voting just so I can write in McCain.

    Yeah, I'm a negative nancy.

Yea I still say Bush is the "lesser of the two evils" but only because I respect what he believes in. He may not be right, and I completely disagree with a lot of the religious ideals he has, but at least he has those ideals. Religion to me is practically lunacy. When I see someone who is a devout christian, I see "psycho". Like freakshow in Harold and Kumar, if you've seen that movie. But Kerry, like many including myself have said before, Kerry is a zombie. He has no life, no ideals, and no beliefs.

I'm a highly opinionated person, so I respect others who have a firm understanding of things and how those things effect their world. However small it may be. I lose all respect for sheep, people that wander aimlessly in life with nothing to associate themselves with. The old adage applies, there are two types of people in the world. Leaders and followers. Kerry is the ladder. Most people in this world just follow any way, and thats what Kerry is to me. I don't want someone who follows to be my leader, but I don't really want Bush for another 4 years either.

I like how you put it, I'm casting my vote by not voting. That is precisely how I see it. I'm doing a lot more by standing in what I believe in, and that is to not vote if there is nobody to vote for. It might as well be a spider and a wasp, they're both pests. Its just like my boycott of the RIAA, except I'm boycotting the entire Political process.
