US approves sale of airplane parts to Iran, WTF???!!!

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The United States will allow the sale of plane parts to Iran's flagship airline, the State Department said, despite sanctions on the Islamic republic.

"Our recommendation is consistent with the US government's commitment to promote international safety-of-flight standards and ensure the safety of all aviation passengers, including the citizens of Iran," the State Department said.

All I'm saying is that Iran is the devil, but not when it comes to making a buck. Hypocrits.

not everyone on iranian airlines is guaranteed to be iranian. maybe it is for safety concerns for anyone. american and other journalists among others fly those airlines, so who knows.

SO glad we're helping Iran out, of all countries. Maybe they can even re-engineer some of those airplane parts and send them back to us as parts of an intercontinental ballistic missile

I used to be a big RATM fan back in high school...but I'll admit, more for the music than the message

I hear all of the criticisms of the international capitalism that America has pioneered. I certainly think that it is valid that you shouldn't put people in sweatshops and treat them like slaves. But...are you seriously saying that international trade should not occur?

I remember myself a case of dutch company nearby Nijmegen. This company was constructing very powerfull transport trucks. I believe those are called 'loaders'. Trucks not ment for cargo like containers but to transport heavy equipment. Think of bulldozer etc.

Well in the 90thies there was this embargo against Iraq. You guys will probably know what that embargo was about better than me. What happens, Iraq placed an order for a bunch of those trucks (dunno late ninethies or early 2000'ish). Do you think anyone question whether it is right to euhm sell them those trucks. Nah there could be gained some decent profit there, besides with all that sand the people there need good powerfull trucks. Cause ow we are so concerned about those poor lill' bastards on the countryside and all.

Of course, and thats quite obvoius, those trucks were ment for transporting tanks to various desert areas. But apparently nobody gave a damn about that. I believe that if you put a focus on the potential military purpose of those trucks they were never allowed to get in there under the rulling embargo.

now in this sentence...your talking with a decent degree of polarity i think..i mean why should having trade mean that whole countrys and huge amounts of people be exploited......
its that constant seeking of profit...the system is inherently flawed and eventually will turn on itslef...its inevitable...its just going to leave such an ugly trail as it rips through completley using up everything in its path regurgitating seemingly new things re packaging re selling...

ofcourse there should be trade we should trade with each other...we all have something the other needs...trade is great...but not like this...
