libertarian...they are the political philosophy I am closest to, but I believe in way more gov't involvement than most libertarians would ever be comfortable with.

thier involvement stresses early involvement in lives, as opposed to adulthood.

get in with the kids early, force them to learn, as opposed to laying back and then paying welfare. they get involved, but in the right ways.

I'm sorry, but Pataki on the issues was shit. He only ever cared about upstate, his constituents, and he was horrible on most social issues. Bloomberg I've actually liked and happy that I voted for. He took the right stances in the right ways more often than not and dealt with the issues I've always felt were most important. As for Giuliani, he was great if you were only concerned about the white upper class and how they were living. He was shit for lower/middle class. He instituted executive law rather than legislative law. He was pro-landlord. His assault on crime went way too far and deprived us of many of our civil liberties. No tolerance is an overreaction. I'm not going to say he didn't do some good things, he did, but I never liked him or his attitude.

while true, every state governor does, because they tend to hold the sway of the election. Otherwise how the hell do you explain a number of republican governors where NYC has a ratio of Dems to Repubs of 4-1? And if you'd like to bring up well the mayors have been Repubs, let's just look at the awesome and incredibly useful job that Koch and Dinkins did They're mostly anomolies for NYC politics.

First of all, the daily show was the other thread and second of all I don't even understand what that comment has to do with anything. If the daily show shows it's viewers the insanity, the foolishness and the criminality of this administration and the republican-dominated congress and the "students" choose to vote against them, what's wrong with that? Isn't that exactly the checks & balances you were talking about? And what makes the daily show different than fox news in that respect?



at least I've seen the daily show make fun of democrats too...

ok, i meant it in the fact that the daily show is most definetly pro-dem, with its guests and john himself, and all they are helping is the kids to just vote democrat under the guise of ''not these fucking idiots''. when there are so many other options that get shoved out of the way.
