i thought the episode was really good.. gives a more complete back story to dexter and his father and how dexter came to be what he is... which is essential.
and i agree, lila needs to be taken care of, which just cannot happen soon enough.. also, his sister is freakin annoying too. only girl i can manage on this show is Rita, but that is because she doesnt really have all that many parts and she is the only hot chick on this show. lol
Thought last nights episode was just stretching the story
definitely not a stretch, imo. more of a history of dexters fucked up upbringing. harry was certainly not as wholesome as he was made out to be in the first season. if you think back to the first season the nurse wouldn't have been his first victim - the pimp was. harry killed himself because he couldn't live with what he turned his adopted son into and even had him kill again (the nurse) which is kind of a contradiction in the story really. aside from that the writing for this show is unparalleled. this latest episode was deep and dark, just like our favorite serial killer. as for lila, who knows what her motives are. she has an obsession with dexter that just adds to the show and makes for a more 'dramatic' effect. and rita, well i think we all know she wasn't just going to go away. her character brings out the 'human' in dexter and imo just adds to the shows hook.
chad, if you haven't done so i suggest reading all 3 books by jeff lindsay. they're really good even if they don't confer with the storyline of the tv show.
look at the scene at the beach where dexter tells rita about harry's suicide.....
tell me as a human you wouldn't divulge ALL information right there! you are at you utmost vulnerability at that moment in time and he holds back. put yourself in his shoes. he is revealing one of the biggest parts of his life (being) right there. i mean c'mon ALL OF US would have spilled the complete bag of beans right there!
even as i watched this episode for the second time i replayed this part aloud to myself and completely smacked my anoos.
dont tell me you wouldn't have too.
as of this moment i want to give the writers for this show 57 emmy's
FUCK the rest of tv this show CONQUERS!
Thanks for the insight and I didn't really think of it like that. I took the part about Harry as to be filler material. I was concentrating more on Dokes and Lila. I will be definitely be putting those books on the old Christmas list.
All I can say is DAMN! Great last episode...that Lila was a cold hearted biiootch but she definitely took out Dokes. I am going to miss his character cause he added a little bit of chase to Dexter plus he had a real badass attitude! Can wait for season three.
i blurted out "Fuck Yeah" when Lila met her fate. awesome ending to an episode i thought was going bit cheesy in the middle. i actually believed for a few seconds that Dexter was really going to go along with Lila til his facial expression said otherwise. that bitch got what was coming to her. such a great tv show. i've said it before and i'll say it again that i've never been in love with a show like this one. it has me sitting on the edge of my seat and really excited to see where the show goes next season. there's a whole new box of slides to be filled in.

Oh. My. God. James absolutely obliterated the island tonight. The last time there was so much destruction, Obi Wan Kenobi had to take a seat on the Falcon after the Death Star said "hi and bye" to Leia's homeworld.
I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.
