    so yeah, what happens now?

where does everyone go if they pop another one? its been reported on CNN since late yesterday that they are prepping another test.......

do we just starve them out? isolate the country entirely? lord knows the only military option is to simply drop a big fucking bomb on the nuke facilities since captain insano has our military in the toilet of earth known as the middle east. but the more you look, the more this guy worries ya. this regeim over there cant seem to grasp their position. if we fuck with them, they threaten more. if we ignore they demand we pay attention to them. when we pay attention to them, they get pissed off because we stand against them.......

    what the fuck. \

anyone up for at least trying to populate the moon. they fuck that up yet.

personally, im not worried about him and me so to speak, but if he happens to say ''fuck america, illget thier ally" and fires something at japan or south korea, then we will literally have two monster guerilla wars on one land mass. it wont be nice either. a cornered animal always goes down fighting

so glad the modern world has abandoned the idea of forced military service, i would wonder how many of the NK troops would fight if it eventually came down to it. especially if the outside world has isolated and starved the country. would the NK mlitary simply do the right thing and usurp jong? or would they accept the idea jong pushes, and fight to the death?

What happens next is nothing. The UN is weak and has too many members concerned with their own agendas. The U.S. military is weakened by the debacle in Iraq. I don't see anything happening unless North Korea actually attacks someone.

And then it will be to late, as usual. I'm curious to see wether Kim is stupid enough to really undertake any military action though...and who would take the first punch in that case (prolly Japan, South-Korea like Sean mentioned). And would the West have the guts then to stop talking and deal with that country?

It's amazing to witness yet again how much one or two people with a disproportionate amount of power can surpass whole markets, systems, and institutions supported by billions of people in their ability to command world events - and just by virtue of their demented personalities. I wouldn't be surprised if he does it one day. It's precisely these kinds of people who have been the catalysts to global conflicts in the past (notice I say catalysts, not the sole causes).

...and I also realize that the demended personality and disproportionate power thing can be turned around and applied to Bush as well. I don't agree with everything Bush does, but I don't think you can put him in the same category as Kim.

get the aggressors out then deal with the left overs.

but yeah, sadly, we have to figure in the possiblity of NK sending shit out to al queada simply to spite and fuck with the modern world.

what about ths scenario...they get a bomb just big enough to destroy a city, and produce a few. the decide to sell a couple to say...iran. iran sends them to the palestinians and lebonese, and one 'lucky martyr' gets to walk it into downtown tel aviv.

Re: so yeah, what happens now?

You'd have to take a look at Kim's ideology, which is far different - even though both Iran and N-K hate the US. Saddam was supporting the Palestinians, but hated Bin Laden for example. I haven't seen Chavez or Castro allying with N-K in public either, even though they have communist/socialist systems.

@Sean: Darfur could be done, but one of the rules of engagement when it comes to intervention/peacekeeping is that the country must agree with a force being sent: superlame IMO, but Sudan is strictly opposed to non-African troops, if any at all. So the UN is now trying to convince Al-Bashir to let them in.

Somalia...either full force or stay out. The warlords have proven to be a weak ally, which was to expected from a bunch of coward opportunists - in fact I cannot believe the West has relied on them to stop a bunch of overzealous reli-freaks. For Ethiopia there's plenty of hope if only the dispute about those tiny pieces of land could be settled, around which most of the war with Eritrea has revolved. Sudan however is also involved in destabilizing both countries and arming local militias. The adverse is also the case.

N-K: top priority...Kim is crossing the line of scare tactics right now, and I am strongly opposed to a nutjob running loose with a nuke.

African militias? Hm....that won't work if done in the traditional way. Economic development, eradication of poverty, fairness in politics: those are a few ingredients which will take away the need for people to take up an armed struggle to claim their piece of the national cake, an it would create strong states which cannot be challenged by armed groups - you see, in Africa the state isn't strong enough to put a claim on violence and is simply one of the competitors for power in a country, unlike in the rest of the world (save maybe parts of South-America).

of all the total wars you suggest, somehow you completely forget the middle east...truthfully, imo, that is where the next world war will be coming from.

fair enough, if anything the lebanon war has taught us is that our intelligence and sanctions on Iran will not be able to stop them from getting what they want. We need to find a way to break any possible ties between those two countries.
