I have had both....cats make me laugh at the things they do, love hearing my cats purr as they lay with me on the couch, and they are very independant so you can go away for a weekend and they will be fine, but changing litter makes me gag...so disgusting. Dogs are very loyal and love to cuddle and seem to actually care when you are talking to them, but you can't just pick up and go away for the weekend as easily.
I really can't pick to be honest...all my pets have been the best!

i had my dog for 12 years, she lived to about 16 years old, i loved her she was the best. i was sad when i found out she wandered away from my parents home one day and died in the woods somewhere never to be found, when i was away at college. they never could find her. she was getting old and her sight and hearing was going, but she was a member of the family for a long time and i liked having her around.
im allergic to cats, so fuck cats.
my choice is dogs.

tough question. I have a dog and a cat... the dog is much more smart & loving, but I'd say that cat wins because I don't need to tend to him hand and foot
