because they are really quality made and have nice keys like piano, not some light plastic keys....
ask some piano player for a difference!
also firewire or usb for midi controller really doesn't matter, because these are so small datas that it doesn't matter even if u have old comp.

ok but if u mean like audio interface: MOTU, M-audio Saffire, M-box...depends on money and firewire for sure!

So, using one of these audio interfaces will improve the sound quality of recordings?? I am looking to record from my mixer to my Mac...I have tried, but the sound quality sucks ass...is this a soundcard issue or will one of these audio interfaces fix the problem.

it always helps to have an audio interface. They help make the sound more representational of what is actually coming through your computer, and not with what that 16 bit soundcard can put out.

firewire are more reliable than usb, what u have to remember about usb is that data is sent using the serial method so its really going down one line @ a time, this can cause all sorts of latency problems etc as ( maybe not as much now but in the older days ) that line was being clogged with huge amounts of data, if u have the option i would go for a firewire interface and also i,ve been told to avoid bus powered units as they have more electrical noise in the system

well i was originally going to get that, but then i was doing research about it and there was NOTHING I could find that said it was made for USB 2.0. So I went with the TASCAM US-144 interface. Very rugged and well made. Very clean sound path and it's helped make my tracks and pretty much anything else coming from my computer sound better. And it was a little bit over $100.

damn that's nice. Looks like the same thing the guys in spooky use, but they have the 25 key versions. I like the trackpad on the side, i'd like to see what I could do with that.

i donno 400-500 dollars for a freaking USB/MIDI controller? it better come with a "fleshlight" port molded after Jenna Jameson.

and i have yet to find a controller that doesn't have the value jump problem. (more apparent with those continuous knobs)

but this is probably the best usb controller right now, automap is pretty cool.

yeah i have no need for that many knobs. frankly i think my Oxygen 8 will stay with me for quite some time.

well i love to automate the crap out of my synths and when testing out my synth and fucking with all the controls i love to have it at my hands. and i'll tell ya reprogramming that freaking oxygen 8's knobs every time i use another synth is a pain in my fucking ass. i would love that novation i was all ready to get serato, but i may fuck it for this

yeah it can be a pain, but i don't use it to automate many parameters anyway. But about the only thing i have to do in live is hit the midi button and click on the parameter i want to control and then twist whatever knob i wanna use to control it. So It's nothing I get heated about.
