    Re: top 100 dj's

That list is such fucking bullshit and so obviously dictated by peer pressure, publicity demands and money talking.

I mean, I really think he?s a good DJ and all, but how the hell does John Acquaviva get the highest entry (to nr. 22 ). I don?t think it?s because of his DJ?ing skills, but rather because he?s one of Beatport?s head honchos and coincidentally, DJ Mag?s online store is now backed by Beatport (it?s basically Beatport with a different skin).

Oh, and James Holden down 16 to nr. 53?!?!? With all the touring, the EM?s, the Digweed appearances, a new record about to come out, the At The Controls comp...? And has anyone who?s voted ever seen him DJ? I did, 2 weeks ago, and it was one of the most mind altering experiences in my life.

Gabriel and Dresden up 9 spots? For what, pressing play on their Ableton sets?

    Bullshit...

oh dear, bit a of a poor show chaps.

      results look extremely dodgy.

Howells should never have been that low, especially with all these unknown monkeys appearing out of nowhere.

u have to think who the hell votes.

maybe we should start up our own poll to get a better idea of the lay of the land -> http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/...ad.php?t=33703

What I dont understand is why the top djs are always trance djs. Not only because trance is so diabolical these days but also because it is such a 'im off my tits, hands in the air' etc type music. I would have thought that the top djs in this stupid poll would play house (in the strictest sense of the word) because it is so much more mainstream and versatile and you dont have to be off it to listen or go out to it..

Polls are like buses, there is another one just around the corner.

I suspect i could make the top 100 next year with a bit of effort.

What, after a day, no trance bashing? Oh wait, it's because I didn't start this thread

As we all know the top100 DJ Mag poll has never been accurate in regards to talent so I don't understand why people are getting upset. It has always been a load of crap, and only the popular dj's are recognized. This years shows even more how stupid this poll is.

A lot of the new entries on there most haven't even heard of. Most got there due to spamming the crap out of myspace, etc. Look at Gareth Emery's entry spot. That man spammed me almost every day with bullitens about his podcasts, he releases, events, etc on myspace. He got in peoples faces so come time to vote when they couldn't think of 10 to vote for, they remembered his name, and you know what for him, it paid off.

It is definately sad that people with true talent get trampled all over every year. They need to create a more accurate polling system where not just anyone can vote. They should have a way to test someones actual knowledge of the music, industry, etc, then allow them to vote. However, until they devise something, this list will always be bollocks

It's so frustrating when we read a poll as tainted as this one because it doesn't reflect our tastes - but overall its fun to analyze and discuss polls (popular opinion). Thats why I think MS should do a poll. This community would be a great test case for what is up in the Progressive and House genres (and all others... even proper trance). Give it some thought MS, it would be a great community building tool.

Note: My one positive out of this years DJ Mag poll: Sporter finally getting the recognition he deserves.

                      Re: top 100 dj's

I have the misfortune to work in a nightclub that books a large number of these DJs ... pretty much the majority of them except the decent Prog DJs in fact. And one thing is obvious ... this poll must be voted for almost exclusively by face chewing, Teddy Smith wearing chavs (apologies to any non chavs who voted ... all 5 of you), because they are the only types of punters I see coming to gigs by the Eddie Halliwells and the Lisa Lashes of this world.

Therefore, we can count the chart as null and void! Except, again, for the decent prog DJs

the more i look at the list the more i scratch my head and feel as if i'm totally out of touch with the whole "scene" as it were... in all honesty i've never heard of, much less ever listened to or seen the following:

                          24. AMADEUS ? New Entry
                          37. DJ SKAZI ? New Entry
                          55. WRECKED MACHINES ? New Entry
                          56. DION MAVATH ? New Entry
                          68. SIMON POSFORD ? New Entry
                          72. MENNO DE JONG ? New Entry
                          79. ANDERSON NOISE ? New Entry

                          93. AXWELL ? New Entry

anyone heard of any of the above? any worth listening to? I imagine one of them has to be a halfway decent dj...

                              * dj's like G-Pal and Anthony Pappa just doing there own residencies and club gigs, not super venues and festivals all over the world, this is just a popularity contest
