    Re: who dosn't vote?

^^agreed. people who dont vote really have no right to complain. and if you hate all politicians, then vote independent. there are plenty of candidates that do not get the headlines because they arent tied into the big 2.

from what i have seen, alot of people on here are rather intelligent, but havent given a shot at learning the facts, as opposed to listening to stupid speeches,

check out the ''other'' parties on wiki.

    Current third parties
Each of these non-major parties had ballot status for its presidential candidate in states with enough electoral votes to have had a theoretical chance of winning the 2004 presidential election.See also:
[edit] Current minor and regional parties that have endorsed candidates

These parties do not have ballot status for their presidential candidate in enough states to have even a theoretical chance to win. Some do not have presidential candidates at all, but do have candidates for other offices.
This is an incomplete list, which may never be able to satisfy certain standards for completeness. Revisions and additions are welcome.

      Re: who dosn't vote?

      ^Good stuff.

How to get people to realize that their vote really does count is a problem. Just from the comments here one can see it is a problem. Your vote is your vote. It counts to you. Don't let anyone brow beat you into thinking if you vote a certain way that you are wasting it. The only way to waster your vote is to not vote.

        Re: who dosn't vote?

first step would be to dilute the vote away from the two parties. it might take a few elections, but it can work. we really really need to clear out the guys like kennedy whoare sitting on their 8th term.....they are so tied into big money from special interest groups it aint funny. some of them, on a salary of 200,000 a year from the gov't tend to pull in millions.... HOW?!

keep voting independent, if only to rid us of the guys who are more ingrained in the problem than bush is... mind you, bush only serves 8 years, these guys were here before him, and created the problem as well.

          Re: who dosn't vote?

I get your thinking. But so many people just don't vote. We have to change that in order to get rid of all the wankers in office now.

eat a big fat dong. libertarian party is only party that allows freedom on all issues, they dont hold a party line and use common sense. unlike the dem or repubs which are the two most corrupt organizations on the planet. they get bought out on a daily basis. and never use common sense. when you have to pick between john kerry and george bush, you are simply put... fucked.

isent stating that your part of the liberitarian party stating that your on a party line?

my honest opinion about political invovlemnt by the common american is that voting is not enough, yea voting is important, but its more important to the people who line up for days at voting stations in countries where democracy is new and where there vote will change there country from a dicatorship to a representative democracy. If your upset about how "i am" fucked because i have to choose between kerry or bush, fucking do something about it. its your fucking country too, if you think our country is going to hell in a handbasket, protest, riot, rebel....dont jsut vote for someone who will 100% garantee loss by 30 million votes, scream and yell for change.
Personaly as a 23 year old, im happy with the way this country is running, im safe from war, i have food, i have a good job and i can go back to school when and where i want..and i dont take that for granted. Sure these are a lot of thinks i hate such as party lines, lobbiest, war and killing but i think shit could be a lot fucking worse.. i know my parents think so thats for sure. Call me lathargic and overly optamistic, but i think our econmy is great, and i like what happened to the enron exct the other day. Please feel free to attack or question me i want to discuss this with other people.

                                Re: who dosn't vote?

then vote with the person whom you consider the best possible option to further what our country has become. i am the last person to tell someone how to vote, but we owe ourselves, our neighbors, and the people before and after us the debt of proving a people based democracy, void of outside influence, will work. we have essentially created one of the most engaging forms of government throughout our history, from the ultra conservatives that formed the initial government, to the ideals of FDR and the massive prodjects he initiated to bring the common man out of the depression. everyone, legal citizens above 18 that is, has the ability to have thier voice heard, even on a small scale.

the media, over the last 15 years or so, has has nearly 80% of this population disgusted with our government. i will use the current situation of our country to illustrate a point. regardless of your stance and party affiliation, right now, our media has bombasted us with the war, the death, islam, security, and controversy, and everyone bitches about something. well, the fact of the matter is, yes, we are in a BAD situtation in the middle east, but to be honest, our country, on domestic soil, is doing great. crime is lower, the market is the best it has EVER been, including the factors for inflation, we still have the most freedom around, disregarding illegal drugs.so maybe it isnt all that bad. maybe.

yes there are things that need to be fixed, and things that need to stay the same, but in the end, the burden of these actions fall solely on US. we elect our representatives, WE choose. it is why, in some states, they did the right thing, and kept the gay marriage debate out ofg the hands of politicians, and allowed the people to vote. and you know what, some regions passed it, some said no way, but that is exactly what this country was founded for. to allow the people to govern themselves, and frankly, IMO, complacency and lask of interest discredits anyone who chooses to bitch, whine, promote, or embrace anything our government does. by not voting, you forgo your ability to be taken serious when you scream about iraq, the patriot act, or the lack of a decent candidate from either party.

                                /end rant.

sorry i cant take attitutdes like this, then see people complain. it truly does rest on our shoulders alone.
