Re: Babel
Holy shit, did this movie take me for a ride. I felt like I was on a roller coaster the whole time. Its been awhile since a movie grabbed me like that and pulled me along. Aside from its "far fetched" story, I thought the plot and developements were great. I was having a hard time understanding what the Japanese had to do with anything, then it all came together. I must say, the club scene was done very well. I liked it better than most club scenes of any movie. I thought the tracks were good, with lots of atmoshpericals that lended themselves very nicely to the deaf girl and the way she experienced the world. When they took the pills, it damn near got me buzzin. I thought it was failry spot on and enjoyed the movie.Push the envelope, watch it bend.

Re: Babel
Saw this one last night. I thought it was a really well made movie in which, the 4 independent lives and their independent troubles were laid out extremely well. I especially loved the entire part of the movie filmed in Morocco. The Japanese girl's loneliness and her feeling "left out" because of her handicap and the things she did to "fit in" in a metropolitan city like Tokyo was just fantastically well depicted. Even the Mexican baby-sitter and the chance she took jumping borders for her son's wedding was entirely believable.
I'm with Adam in that I thought when the dad came into the balcony in the end, I thought he'd have seen her balancing over the edge contemplating jumping off. Also, I may have missed the part where the contents of the note to the Inspector came to light but I felt not having shown them left unecessary mystery to that part of the tale.
The connection of stories of what's going on with Brad Pitt and his kids was entirely believable. It could totally happen to anyone.
But I thought the connection between the previously owned Japanese gun and kids shooting it were weak. There could definitely have been a better storyline in plotting a more devious connection there.
Defo had the "that's it" moment when the flick ended. I'd still give it a healthy 7/10 for all the good that IS there in the movie rather than the smaller amount of disappointments it left behind.Last edited by Kamal; July 12, 2007, 04:10:00 PM.www.mjwebhosting.com

Re: Babel
this was a shit film. i pretty much was asking, "what the fuck! why did they do THAT???" It really pissed me off. Very frustrating. I guess there were some interesting things going on, but it wasn't clever, even though it tried to be. I want my two hours back on this one. I liked brad pitt before I watched this movie, and now i just don't know if I could go see any of his flicks from here on out.
goddamnit that was a waste of a rental.you could put an Emfire release on for 2 minutes and you would be a sleep before it finishes - Chunky
it's RA. they'd blow their load all over some stupid 20 minute loop of a snare if it had a quirky flange setting. - Tiddles

Re: Babel
Hmm I still havent seen this. Waiting for it to come up on my netflix cue. I always seem to push the more serious movies back in favor of comedys.. This usually happens until my supply of green is completely ran out.Comment
