Re: James Holden - The Idiots Are Winning

i've said it before and i will say it again. holden is king. he rarely has a set that i get sick of after hearing it two times.

i think it might be time for another electro thread?

Re: James Holden - The Idiots Are Winning

so how is track 8 a tool?

Silence is definitely a tool.

Much like negative space in design.

That?s right.

I mean, my brain must be more fried that I thought, because I like the album, but whatever you think of this record, as a DJ, Holden is awesome, I?ll never forget the destruction he layed on the dancefloor at Lux here in Lisbon a few weeks ago. It?s like a black hole swallowing a rainbow, if that actually was possible.

i get that Palmer
however, why include a track of silence on an album (or collection of tools). Surely anyone that wants to use it can do it without his masterpiece

Re: James Holden - The Idiots Are Winning

ps. i actually quite liked the cd

Re: James Holden - The Idiots Are Winning

I'd just like to add this isnt his artist album. It's an EP with a bunch of tools, hence why it probably comes across as rather disjointed to most of you that are treating it like an album. As for a real artist album - that comes next year..

thanks for the info. that clears a lot up for me.

Sorry man, but this IS the album it´s no EP.

Anyway, final word : the funny thing is that James Holden has consistently pushed the envelope and done his own thing, received criticism for it, until eventually everyone wants a piece of him. How many dance producers can remix Madonna or Britney and not be called "sellouts"? How many DJ´s have created their own label and got a type of music named after that same label? You have to respect a guy who is as young as he is and manages to do whatever the hell he wants and has people tripping over themselves to follow his footsteps.

"Boldly going where no man has gone before" is a double-edged sword
