I have a real hard time believing that he would actually shit on the troops in such a public way, but I have absolutly no problem believing he would make a fuck up like this. Seriously - bad joke, slip of the tounge whatever - how the hell can you think something like this would slide by? The best thing to do would for him to be contrite, apologize and say, "My bad, I'm an idiot" - but showing the true lack of common sense that has been a hallmark of the donkeys during election time, he acts like a spoiled little kid and says "They do it too!"

What's funny is that this is exactly what the democrats didn't want to happen. Did you see how states are asking Kerry to cancel his appearances at Dem rallies? Classic. They were crusing along, using the old gameplan of "if your enemies are destroying themselves, stay out of their way" And good ol' John, reporting for duty, steps up and takes a huge steaming dump on all of them. I have a feeling we won't be seeing any Kerry in '08 bumper stickers after this one.


I made it a point to watch the prime-time fools Keith Olberman and Bill O last night to catch their take. Predictably Olberman followed Kerry's lead and blamed the GOP for spinning the story, but Bill actually sounded a little intelligent on the matter. He said he doesn't believe Kerry was knocking the troops, but just can't speak for shit and tripped over his own feet.... again.

it is a systematic pqattern of behaviour as shrinks and sociologists would say. this isnt something new. just go read up on his post war actions of accusing fellow soldiers of everything under the sun.

You do have a point, and living next to MA I have seen his comments in the past (Didn't he once say that US troops were tearing through villages like "Jeng-is" Khan?) I just can't fathom that idea that he would purposefully trash the troops a week before the elections, when the perception that the Dems are weak on defense is the whole image they're trying to change.

I'm just stunned that he would actually think that people would take those comments as a dig on the President and not on the troops. Can anyone honestly say that, upon hearing that clip for the first time, they took it as a joke on Bush?




I will say that the IMUS interview this morning was pretty funny. At the end when Don was saying, "Please, I'm beggin you John - just stop talking... please.. I'm beggin you... just stop..." and Kerry kept on rambling in the background, high comedy.

Although being in the military certainly doesn't mean you're dumb -- I come from a military family myself -- the reality is that the guys that are on the front lines are often guys who didn't get a great education and don't have a lot of options. I spent my first two years of high school in a great suburban high school in Washington State, and my last two years in an inner city school in KC, MO. You can't seriously compare the level of education at the two schools, and I'll give you one guess as to which one was more heavily recruited, by a landslide. On ROTC days, you'd think you were in boot camp.

The point is, I get the point he was trying to make. He just made it really poorly. Kerry is an out-of-touch elitist, this just in. Luckily for him, he's not running for anything. Frankly, if anyone was relying on Kerry to campaign on their behalf, they're probably screwed anyway. I actively campaigned for that clown, literally walking door to door, and every time I see him or receive one of the every-other-day emails from him that I'm evidently doomed to receive for the rest of my life, I just cringe. If there's anything his loss to Bush showed us, people don't care much for John Kerry enough to reelect a guy like Bush, so I doubt that anything he says will carry too much weight, good or bad. He's just a non-factor.

We'll see though. Who knows.

Here's what I find interesting about this story, Kerry actually had a point that while we continue to fight this war in Iraq, we keep lowering further and further down the requirements to be a soldier (but if you're gay, you're still out ). Is there a law of dimishing returns to this policy? Would we not eventually reach a point where we're doing more harm than help to the war by lowering these requirements? Could they not be part of the reason for the Abu Ghraib disaster?

So I ask, where he truly has a point to make, how could he make it without offending the troops? This unfortunately is an issue that really does need to be discussed in this country, but any mention of it brings the usual backlash of claims that saying such things is not supporting the troops or at least insulting to them.

Is it fair that we've created a class of soldiers who would be defined by all other educational evaluations as mentally handicapped (or whatever the hell the politically correct way of saying retarded is today )?

These soldiers are not up to par, by no fault of their own, and all too often becoming a soldier nowadays is a way they could better find themselves as being a service to society (cause truthfully, not many others would give them a chance). Does that make any sense or is that fair in any respect? These are the people we should be protecting cause they can't protect themselves, at least not as well as many of us could protect ourselves, yet we throw them into the most life-threatening situations. Pathetic

you need to talk to my brother..... he would have quite a bit to say about this, being in west point with honors.... all feild operations soldiers are extremely skilled and educated in particular feilds. the less educated individuals tend to be more geared towards operation engineers and mechanincs..
