he did not say sorry Toasty. I do not care anyway you spin that, that was not a sorry. Am I crystal clear Toasty?
OK, looked back at the actual transcript rather than just reading the story about it, and you're right, that's a pretty weak sorry. I do think it's clear that he didn't mean it the way that it came out, though.
Again though, to underscore my main point, anyone that is getting fired up over anything John Kerry has to say at this point is really grasping at straws IMO -- especially since it should be obvious that his statement did not come out as intended. Whether or not you think it was actually intended to be a joke is one thing -- because I personally think that explanation is pretty thin -- but I don't think anyone could seriously think that he meant it in the mean-spirited way it came out.

I agree with pretty much everything you said, but this one point...do you really believe that even after everything you've seen this American public believe?

the damage is done. for people who lost family members in this Iraqi war ... you can not turn the clocks back and re-state what he said. he all ready has been asked by a few of his own party members not to join. so ... Kerry should learn a thing or two. keep your bush hating down, or at least make it more direct.

OK, maybe anyone is a bit strong. Should have said "no rational person," so that would exclude the 30-some-odd-percent that still think Bush is doing a bang-up job...

this is all a stupid sideshow....the most glaring aspect of this is that we are one week away from an election where the dems are poised for big gains.
and what goes the W. do in this crunch time?
shit on kerry.....shitting on him for words he said to troops.
troops who he can relate to because he served as they do.
and all of these armchair generals and phoney tought guys pick on a real hero.
the writing's on the wall. these people in the white house are done.
how do u spell lame duck ?
"I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform and I personally apologize to any service member, family member or American who was offended," Kerry said in a statement.
That's about the lyrical equivalent of the Pope's apology to muslims over his words, ie. I don't apologize for what I said, just for how the words were understood. Kudos
