    Re: kerry, yet again....

The comments made by Kerry were inappropriate and had bad timing. Most Americans are upset that troops and family members are getting killed and injured over in Iraq. And Kerry comes along and makes the troops and their families feel like low class citizens. No one likes to be spoken down to and made to feel inferior.

The problem with Kerry is that he's an unintelligent, arrogant, liberal elitist. Yes, he's not that intelligent. As a matter of fact, George W. Bush actually had higher grades than Kerry did back at Yale or Harvard(I can't remember which). I know that higher grades don't make someone smarter than another, but I don't think we can say Kerry is a genius either. And if he was really that smart, then he wouldn't have made such a comment.

Kerry is so self righteous that he can't even admit he's truly sorry for what he said. A very telling sign of a arrogant elitist.

Even more disheartening is looking back at 2004, we had a choice of dumb and dumber.

This is nothing but bullshit on the side. Great timing for Bush though: excellent diversion for the shit that is happening in Iraq.

Exactly. Maybe Kerry is secretly working for the Republicans, because he's really doing everything he can to help them out!!!

one thing that is not being spoken about in the meida echochamber is the context of the joke. pretty much, here is what he said:

'the president used to live in the state of texas, and now he lives in a state of denial. if you study hard and learn about the world, then you will go places.....if you don't, then you get stuck in iraq.'

he is clearly referencing the president here. clearly. and he is being sandbagged. i mean, do these idiots really think that a decorated f*cking war hero would talk shit about troops in front of a crowd of troops??? it's absurd. and now they have mccain making the network hop, talking shit about his old friend kerry.

the GOP has fallen deeper into the depths of desperation and manipulation with this one.
              shame.

                    Re: kerry, yet again....

i just don't agree. he came back from vietnam, with his mind set on bringing his comrades home...and spoke of ACTS that were a part of the way the war was being conducted....not on the TROOPS themselves.

i mean, have you ever actually watched the testimony he gave in front of congress???

i don't blame the soldiers at abu grhaib wholly for the torture scandal. i blame the powers that be that sanctioned those acts. the same applies to the kerry testimony in the 70s.

kerry is a decorated war hero. he saved people's lives in the heat of battle. and his heroism has been the constant target of attacks from people going so far as to question how serious his war wounds were. disgusting. and his biggest critics??? armchair generals....cheneys, who got several deferrments from service (he had 'other priorities' according to his files), bush, who did not show up for a cushy air national guard assignment.

THAT is the real slap in the face to our soldiers. incompetents with no record of service who take distinguished vets at the knees (cleland, kerry, jim webb, and the rest) and making the decision to send those who do serve to a war based on deception.

foley shouldnt even be an issue. he should be in prison NOW. im still wondering why a child predator was given rehab and pointed fingers at a preist. ok, you had your issues when you were young, but that is no excuse for being a pedophile. someone grab his ass out of rehab and put him in san quentin and the story would be over. his crime had nothign to do with policy, but more with a few people who should be in jail for covering a crime up..;......

who can forget about iraq... every asshole on the planet keep ''reminding us'' about it. im not for running away, we cuased it, but shit, they really arent worth it.... border fence.

we differ,. i wont budge on the fact he is a disgrace to the uniform, the government and evry intelligent person here, as much as GW's buddies are. im not deffering any blame from the admin's actions, but this guy needs to be hit in the head with a hard blunt object.

                        edit here.

anyone who actually beleive this is a misinterpreted joke is just as stupid as this colon tumor and the jackasses in charge. it wasnt. he lost and the party has been using him and a few others who dont stand a national chance in hell at ever runnign again to coerce america and for that matter, other countries into despising evrything about this war, from GW to the poor soldier feuling helicopters. if you havent noticed, then dont vote next time, because you are clearly too stupid to be responsible enough to finally elect someone with integrity.... this was another attack on everything iraq, and was intended to drum up furor. by implicating that anything with the war is stupid he hopes to get more support for the democrats, when in fact about 80% of the republican base hates the war.....

Kerry's service record in Vietnam is debatable. Regardless and more importantly, today he is not respected by the military for the comments he's made over the years. Even if Kerry was a Vietnam hero, he isn't the same person today.

As for the politics, the Republicans are running with it all the way to Tuesday. I'm actually glad we probably won't hear about this any more after next week. The story is now overblown and overexposed. His arrogance and disdain for the military aren't news items because we already knew that about him.

Exactly right. Kerry is the definition of opportunist - when his "service record" suits his needs, he's saluting the flag and reporting for duty. When it gets in the way of his quest to take down those he despises, he's tossing his medals into the fire (but not before he makes sure a nice crowd has gathered to watch).

I think it was Toasty who pointed out earlier in this thread that Kerry is pretty much a political non-entity at this point, and I'd have to agree. He's rivaled Al Gore in post-loss meltdown and is nothing more than a talking head for the Dems - whether they want that or not. So the issue therefore is not about Kerry's political future, but the effect its had on the days leading up to the elections.

Every democratic candidate is being forced to comment on Kerry's dumbass quote instead of talking about their platform in these final few days. A combination of John's ineptitude and Republican spin has made this an issue for every single Dem in the running. Rule #1 in running a campaign: Make sure your ideas are known, especially right before the folks cast their ballot. Thanks to Kerry, Dems have to answer questions about something other than their ideas and that hurts their ability to drive their main points home in these last few days. And the GOP and their side of the media will do their best to keep the gas pumping on this story right up until Tuesday.

Will that end up making a difference by this time next week? We'll know soon enough. Either way, just chalk this up as another non-story becoming earth-shattering news in the eyes of America's media mess.

Kerry may have been taken out of context. He may genuinely like the troops. He may have been very honorable in uniform.

He still said something which is painstakingly obvious in its stupidity, particularly coming from a politician. This stuff matters in politics.
