I don't know about the inner details...
the PC I have right now is a pos...I just want to build and inexpensive system that works...

Just something I can beat to hell since it's not my primary machine. I'm thinking I can't really go wrong getting this board with the 100% rebate.

Looks like they have stock again...I showed a buddy of mine at work and he bought one on the spot...

anyone shopped with Newegg before? Especially overseas customers?
Hell, I might get one for the hell of it... even tho I already have an Asus P4C-800E Deluxe with Intel 875 chipset.

boo! forget that. Offer is valid in the USA only. (why the hell does the form ask you for a country then? )

Yeah I've bought quite a bit from Newegg and I'm quite satisfied. I got my LCD monitor, a motherboard and processor, some hard drives and other stuff from them and all my parts got here quick because it was FedEx instead of UPS (fucking UPS). I can't give any input about overseas customers though.

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

This is the first time i'm ordering from them. No sales tax and free 2 day Fedex.

I've looked all over the web and went to CompUsa and Newegg seems to have the best prices.

I wonder if they used to be known as Egghead?

what type of processor should I slap on there? i'm thinking about buying a P4 2.2ghz...

it'll take any Pentium 4 processor you can throw at it.
tho make sure you get one with an 800mhz FSB - This will bring the whole speed of the entire system up.

yes for ram 3200 because the higher the stock FSB on the memory, the lower can you overclock it, I didnt read all the specs on the mobo but can you oc this board ?? if you can , I say go for the 3200 and pick up the PIV 2.8 ghz @800 FSB, then you'll really be able to crank some juice out of the system

I really need a new motherboard, and this would be a great option. Hopefully the offer will still be good on monday when I get paid.

512 should be straight but a Gig is pretty much becoming standard. Whatever Longhorn turns into and other future apps are probalby going to require it.

As for video, there are a bunch of really good mid-range cards out right now. Dropping mad money on a X800 or 6800 isn't a good idea right now, I don't think. Alot of changes are coming in the next year or so that could really set home computing off. I would wait for these to come out and get all the kinks worked out before I dropped a lot of money on something out now.

                    Just my 2 cents.

I'd get 2 sticks of identical 512meg 3200 RAM and take advantage of the dual channel function.

Corsair sticks like I've got are sold in matched pairs. Not really sure if I but into this but I know alot of the early dual channel motherboards had compatibility issues. Either way, I've never had a problem and the heatspreaders look nice.

                          Never really liked Corsair.
I choose Kingston... mmmm, lifetime guarentee on them too. Buy them at the same time, and you won't have any issues.

I don't know if the board can be o/c. Aren't P4's harder to o/c vs. AMD bc the chip is locked-down or something?

I'm going for the 3200 if I can find some good prices...

better these days to overclock by boosting the FSB rather than the CPU. clocking the CPU results in very minimal gains.
