So did Barry Zito and Jason Schmidt. If i'm picking, i'm going that route.

I'd really like to have Edmonds back tbh tho. It's not necessarily his bat, which is't really all that anymore, but his fielding is still fantastic, and what he brings to the clubhouse isn't something that you can put into stats.

zito is going to the NY guys, 90% to the mets. no where else. unless someone gets stupid with money. like past what the yanks would do. in queens he gets his homeboy rick peterson back, a young team, and a GM who is ready to spend after pulling 3.5 million last year and he doesnt have to be a true #1 for a year or two with glavine and pedro.

schmidt, i dont know, i can see him going nowhere. that team will make him thier number one, and they are about to build a team back up as they are letting the AARP outfeild go elsewhere. if not, you know minnesota will show him liriano and santana, and the yanks will show him cash, also, he is a west coast guy from seattle, and has hinted there as well.

yeah, i can dream tho can't it? lol.

The Cards most likely won't get any huge name, thats their m.o. They'll resign suppan, and go out and snag a few other players, possibly pitchers, who have once been really great, but have fallen from grace for a couple of years. Then those guys will come here and smack the shit out of the ball, or throw like they're cy young.

If so, good riddance then. I guess he doesn't want a shot at winning another world series.

Pretty much anyone i say that's a free agent, the Yanks or Mets are interested in them, so this conversation is retarted. The Yanks and Mets are going to have dinner with everyone. Go ahead and load up your teams with big names Mets/Yanks, that philosophy has worked really well for you lately eh?

How about the Yanks grooming Donny Baseball to be their next manager after Torre loses in the playoffs again next year? Good move imo.

im 50/50 on that. donnie is the most beloved NY athlete ever, moreso than mantle or ruth or yogi. he is also one of my heroes. if he doesnt rock, i would hate to feel any negativity to him. imagine if they made ozzie the manager and he was shit. st lou fans would be heart wrenched.

other than that, i know the guy is equivelent of jeter, maybe smarter. he can motivate and get people to game up when it matters.

                    Re: jenks, toasty

I'd like to see Edmonds stick around, but primarily for sentimental reasons -- he's had trouble staying healthy, and his bat hasn't been what it has been in the past. Don't get me wrong -- I love the guy, I think he brings a lot of intangibles to the team, and he does seem to step it up when it matters most. Just trying to be realistic, and if I'm a GM, it's tough to justify paying what he will command for a guy who clearly has his most productive years behind him.

We need to shore up our starting rotation more than anything else right now. We have Carpenter under contract and, well, that's about it. Wainwright may end up getting a role in the starting rotation, but that will depend upon what Izzy does to a large extent.

you and me both. Wainwright did a good job in that role, I'm tempted to let him have the closer spot and spend Izzy's money to get some top notch starters.

Is Izzy under contract right now? Do you know his situation?
