^ I need a car every day, 5 days a week for work (35 mile round commute)

I also need it for weekends for getting to football etc . Couldn't live without a car.

I reckon the 3-5k motor is the best option. HP will tie you up for a long time and u are bound to get bored of the car before the term of the payments is up. You could get a loan for 3-5k that would not have to be such a long term commitment and the payments would not be too expensive. Plus the bottom has well and truely dropped out of the 2nd hand car market so u can get some real bargains..

man that sucks, having so much truble with your car! You should by a new one, thats is batter because you know that it will work.

used car with low milage and warranty for all mechanical issues for atleast 30,000 miles if not go for a lease ... a car with a lot of problems, go to a mechanic u trust and ask how much to reliably ride it out and for from there

1. used, low milage, with warranty
2. lease
3. go to a trusted mehanic and see what he says to make the car reliable ...

i'd go used or nearly new.

u lose too much cash driving a new car off the forecourt.

warrenty is nice, but how often should a new car go wrong.

its a matter of balancing the books.

if its just for work trips and the weekend - ie you arent going to be doinga lot of miles. definetly go used.

^ Cheers guys, I decided to pick up an old banger that would get me through to next summer, wheh I'll (hopefully) have a bit more on the cash side.

Found a peugeot on ebay, got my mechanic mate to look at it before purchase, he recommended it, the seller looked after it quite wel and it's a diesel so will be cheap as chips to run.

Don't pick it up til Wed so cannot put anything up yet. I can tell you that it needs a good scrub so I'll do that first!

Agreed! New or only 1 year old with low milage. Instead of worrying about if my car was going to make it to work and back home I can now focus on work. What I thought was going to make my wallet smaller has now made my wallet bigger!
