The public could force the globel industries to change it's ways, but there has to be a unprecedented amount of consensus for that...I'm curious to wether that wille ver happen. But the protests against the war in Iraq have shown that its possible, even though probably something bad must happen first which is directly related to the greenhouse effects. It's all abut removing the doubt, then people will wake up and act.Blowkick visual & graphic design - No Civilization. Now With Broadband.

If we don't, I think the climate change will rebalance the earth again. Maybe this is nature's way of saying: "Oh, you guys think you're smart by beating diseases that help natural selection and balance? Well, let's get even using your biggest weakness." Ignore the future people, maybe it'll go away...Comment

Re: Global warming: the sign of our times?
Don't underestimate the impact each of us can have just doing "the little things" already in our grasp. Buy energy efficient light bulbs, turn off you computer at night, turn down your thermostat, ride a bike on a short trip**. If we all do these things they add up. Even if it costs a little more, make a sacrifice for your own good.
(**Did you know: the primary emission control device in your car is the catalytic converter. They only work effectively once warmed up, which means your car will produce more emissions in the first minute it is turned on than the next hour (my rough estimate). What this means is that even on a short trip and back, you are polluting nearly as much as if you drove 20 miles.

The catalytic converter does a great job at reducing the pollution, but it can still be improved substantially. One of its biggest shortcomings is that it only works at a fairly high temperature. When you start your car cold, the catalytic converter does almost nothing to reduce the pollution in your exhaust.Beats are my crack.Comment

Re: Global warming: the sign of our times?
Cycles are there, but never has earth warmed up this fast - and there's enough research to prove that at least part of this heating up is due to our exhaust. It doesn't have to be completely the result of what we do, but even by speeding up a normal process we can destroy this planet...for example: in normal circumstances, species would have enough time to adapt, evolve or new species would have the time to develop that are adapted to the 'new' environment, and not even that has always happened in the past. Imagine that the change is too fast for that...you'd lose a lot of flora and faune that cannot cope with the pace in which the climate is changing, and the extinction rate will explode. No replacements, no adaptation. Just an empty earth left.Blowkick visual & graphic design - No Civilization. Now With Broadband.

is only logic that everything that we are doing to the planet in order for us to live life more confortably, is fucking it up ... we'll just need to readjust ourselves and learn to live with some sacrificesComment
