I received a kick in the ass or a smack in the face as well if i'd fucked up, only until a certain age. But then again, after a few times my parent's didn't have to do it anymore, because I learned from it.

The agade these days is that kids should search their own boundaries in life, well...I think the best demarcation of those is a good ass-whoopin'. I may be liberal, but not on this. Kids rely on adults to learn the ropes in life, and to get corrected. How are they going to learn if we let them do everything they want? If you don't teach your children, don't get pissed at someone who does. Because someone always will (but if it's too late the lesson might be prison or a bullet).

i seen to many kids that got their asses smacked (normal belt whacks on the ass not child abuse) and they only ended up hating their parents rather than respecting them.

if you don't spoil your kids, then you will their gain respect.

It has to be a distribution of responsibilities between BOTH parents i.e. one has to love them to pieces and the other has to be the strict one. So kids have the best of both worlds growing up and when they do reach an age to "recognize" that the ass whooping was deserved, they will love you as parents even more.

once i got my ass whoop really bad .. so i decided i was gonna take off and live with my uncle , i even packed ( was like 12 or so ) until my dadsaw me with the suitcase .. then i found out what whoopass meant !!!!

lmao, i was the other way. after a bad fight, my uncle showed up and said that i should get my crap. he told me my parents couldnt deal with my behaviour, and he was a captain in the NYPD mountie unit, i instantly realized i should shut up. he is 58 years old now, and im still deathly afriad of him.

now that i look back, and looking at certain old friends of mine, im damn glad my parents were tough on me.

my favorite was when i was like 13-14 or so, my mother was hitting me for somethingor another. and i punched a hole in the wall. well i knew i was in for it. i stayed at my neighbors house for the afternoon. and came home round dinner time. i didnt say a word. my pop walks in, talks with my mom and walks over to me. he had this face that dictated i was a dead man. he says ''go upstairs now, get my belt, wait in your room". i proceeded to be on the recieving end of one of the greatest moments in parenting. i never again punched anything in the house.

yeah, but you had to hide at a friends house because of fear.

my parents gave me plenty of belt whackings when young, but it never did shit. I still misbehaved. So then they tried a new stratagey, the Go to your room I am dissapointed with you, it seemed to have a better affect

first off - where in the hell were these teachers when I was going through puberty?
there was only one hot teacher in my school and you had to squint.

as far as parenting goes, i got the absolute shite beat out of me as a kid, yes it made me resent my parents and i went the opposite direction, just learned how not to get caught. which is what has kept me out of jail. "slip and slide"

but you can be a good parent and teach good morals without beating, but hey sometimes they just need their ass beat!!
