    screenshot from DVD?

    have any of you ever tried to make a snapshot of an single image from a DVD on your computer?
    i know the normal way is strg+print screen, but if i try it with a dvd and paste it in photoshop and save it then, i got, after reopening it, only a black screen.

    any ideas?

      Re:: screenshot from DVD?

      this is kinda a pain but I would convert it to an AVI or quicktime and then export it as a bitmap sequence... you will end up with 10.000 + images but with good quality and you can pick exactly the frame you wanna use...

          well, you can change the frames per sec and you won't end up with crazy amount... still kinda a pain!

          might be a program out there where you can pick exactly what frame to use?!
          not sure...

            I've tried this too with the blank screen problem. My bet is that it's the copy protection that is causing it built in with DVD's.

              yeah, thats what i tought too.
              but i tried it with mpeg videos with windows media player & with mov videos and had the same effect.
              can`t be copy protection there anymore.

                  ^^^^ yeah if I remember right you can just grab the screenshot from within the player, although I could have this mixed up with WinDVR.

                    Mario, i use WinDVD who has an option to take pic, capture frames like a photo album. Try this one instead...it's worth it.

                      thanks, i'll give it a try.
                      just searching for a full copy.
                      ...and you're sure it is WinDVD and not WinDVR as neoee guessed?

                        I've had similar such problems, and print screen works on some dvds, but not all. The dvd player I use on my pc is CyberLink's PowerDVD, which has a button on the interface designed specifically for taking a screenshot, which seems to work every time. Hope this helps!
