Mad Season- layne staley's side project.

hey, anyone have this or ever listened to it???

i just popped it in for the first time years, and wow... takes me back. this was the one of the single most important albums of the period, diffferent, slower, more musical than the grunge sounds of his other band, pearl jam, and the like. jazzy, ambient, groovy tunes, with HOWLING vocal work from layne, no screaming or yelling , but a soulful kinda feeling. god damn. what an album.

i've got this one. took me forever to track it down when i was a kid.
that instrumental, november hotel or whatever its called...such a cool song.
the guy from pearl jam, mike, did the guitars for that album. some of his best work too.

i had this alice in chains bootleg that i sold to an ex a long time ago. it was called heroin. lol
that was a wicked album too. live versions of rooster and would? along with some unreleased and demo stuff. there's a cool song called king of the rodeo. i wish i still had that one.

Yup, great album, some jazz, lounge and blues influences there, very well meshed with that typical Seattle sound.

In fact, I always thought that most albums by these grunge bands side-projects were as good or even better than their originating bands.

Temple Of The Dog obviously comes to mind (members of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden), there was also Brad (with one of Pearl Jam?s guitarists), and there?s this band I love called Pigeonhed which I believe was also from Seattle and was more in a soul/funk vein.

of all those one off side projects ... my favourite was still Temple of the Dogs ... how could you beat the vocals on Hunger Strike with Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell ...

Brad and Mad Season come in a close second

Great cd. I will have to pop it in when I get off of work. I also have a live show of them from during that time that is pretty badass as well. Such a important cd during the 90's.

              tiddles, the instrumental was ''Alone."

and it had a vocal, but it wasnt lyrical, it was intended to be more of another instrument, as the only word was 'we're all alone' and nothing more. yep, serious tune.

Wow, I never knew there was that many Mad season fans out there. Figure the release of this cd was not a bigger sell at all. One of those great underground cds that everyone needs to own.
