Argentina wins Olympic Gold in basketball

In a great game against Italy, Argentina won 84-69, and became the fourth country to win the Olympic gold in basketball (together with the U.S., Soviet Union and Yugoslavia).

Incredible performances of 'Manu' Ginobili (16 points), 'Pepe' Sanchez, Montecchia and his 3-poniters, Scola (25 points and 11 rebounds), Nocioni and Wolkowyski. Fabricio Oberto watching form the bench with a broken hand (courtesy of Marbury...)

Well deserved medal, after the great games against Serbia & Montenegro, Greece, USA, and of course, Italy.


Great image... Argentina receiving the gold, flanked by Italy and USA, the italians smiling, jumping, very happy with the silver medal, minutes after losing the game. And the USA team taking the bronze with a look on their faces like they were receiving some kind of consolation prize. Complete arrogance.

I mean none of the USA stars enter the basketball and the same for the football

No way they are not so important sports... basketball and football are two of the most watched/played sports in the world... And as far as I'm concerned, a gold medal is a gold medal.

there were a ton of stars in this tournament. props to argentina for coming out on top. each and every team in this played their guts out and proved basketball maybe the most competitive team sport in the world today. for an olympics that was predicted for disaster, it's really come together in top notch style.

Saw the game and they definetly deserve it, congrats for the football Gold medal too, seems that you guys are good in collective games ( football, basketball and volley ofcourse). enjoy it while it lasts.
