Re: Is This Track Worth Anything?

hey dude just got to listening to your track. i didnt hear it before, so i cannot comment on any changes to it. i must say the groove, and spacey sounds are very nice, but your arrangement needs some work imo. not much, but i think it will make a big difference. there are some things about the track that i dont get. you seem to have such a long build up to the bit that comes in at 4.30 and then the break down to mix it out is at 5.00. to me the heart of your track is in this chunk here. i would bring it in a lot sooner... i know the DJ in you is telling you to have that long intro... but even though its being mixed, dont let the other track do the work, your music is still being played for 2 mins! make it stand out. work on effectively bringing in each element ... and not necessarily w/ a snare roll (a few early on could go imo)... some work well in this track but personally i fucking hate em. just my opinion. from when you bring the bass in i would work on moving that bit from 4.30 to start a bit sooner and bring elements in and out and use some creative filter settings and mess around a bit w/ that melody at 4.30, its nice and the track just dies after a few reps of it. but i wouldnt extend the track, just bring it in a bit sooner, and then build on it a bit more.... i hope that made sense

edit... ok, the way the bass starts at 2.00, it just appears. you dont need to have a big snare roll or break to bring it in, but make it noticeable... for example, the bar before the bass comes in remove the kick and when the bass starts, bring it in with the kick... it will be more noticeable. and maybe right before the bass comes in put in two kix as 1/8 notes ... just small shit like that will go a long way imo

take a few ques from your favorite producers. go and really listen to their tracks. Pick them apart with an exacto knife, really nail the details down, then follow this map to the letter but with your own sounds. Great way to begin producing.

Was listening to "Remember" from Prydz today, picking it apart. And everything on it comes in every 15 seconds, parts come in, other parts go out, but it all seems to be happening every 15 seconds.
