Edwards Takes Aim at Bush 'Miscalculations'+
Senator John Edwards, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, said on Sunday that President Bush's concession that he had made a "miscalculation" about the occupation of Iraq gave the Kerry campaign a new theme for the remaining 65 days of the campaign: a chance to catalog other missteps that the Democrats say Mr. Bush has yet to acknowledge.
In an interview describing the campaign strategy, Mr. Edwards also said he and Senator John Kerry would make a new proposal to resolve the escalating confrontation with Iran, which is producing uranium that Washington fears could be used in a bomb. In the proposal, the United States would offer Iran internationally supplied nonweapons-grade nuclear fuel "on the condition that all the nuclear waste is taken back" so that it cannot be used for bomb material.
