Yeah, you see a comercial for bowling and you're just waiting for the punch line, like for the Geico lizard to come out and say something witty..It's never too late to become the person you always thought you would be.Comment

Re: sports you just can't get into
I don't like watching sports.... I like playing them.
I hate baseball, soccer, basketball and football. Baseball, Soccer and Football are too slow. And Basketball I was never any good at, so I just don't care about it.
Football is the most spectator friendly of all those sports, but I still don't like it. I don't even watch the Super Bowl.
I play lacrosse, ice hockey, and golf.... but snow skiing is my favorite thing in the world.Comment

Re: sports you just can't get into
Heard a quote somewhere..."It isn't a sport unless there's defense"...
...separating sports like football, baseball, basketball, hockey, etc., from athletic activities, like track, nascar, figure skating, golf, etc. Sports require a form of interpersonal competition, something more than solely braving the elements(or extremely subjective scoring methods)...
A classic movie, "BaseKetBall," might have introduced to people the purest form of competition known to man.
I could never see how people got excited for curling...Comment

Re: sports you just can't get into
i love how ppl outside of the americas and asia say baseball is slow, yet, like soccer. soccer is beyond slow. passing is not action, im sorry. nothing happens in soccer outside of a rare goal. i mean, comon, one person guarding a net 30 feet wide by 9 feet high..... there should be a ton more goals.Comment

Re: sports you just can't get into
beisball and basketball,
but I think those two sports don't have any passion at all it's just a game where people pays a high price ticket and stares on their asses watching all this repetitive stuff.. it has no passion really I've seen images from espn and fox sports of fans literally yawning at the finals... and i'm not kidding.. seriously "yawning"
I actually like the NFLComment

As you will see, I honor the sports that have the least record of players pending legal infractions and jail time.
A MUST
-----------------------------------------
Soccer - DC United (I'm a fucking Season Box Ticket Holder)
Winter Sports that involve SNOW not ICE (skating/hockey)
TOLERATE
-----------------------------------------
NFL Playoffs
NCAA Bowl Games
CAN'T DO
-----------------------------------------
Baseball (I'd rather watch Cricket)
Basketball
NASCAR (not even a sport)
Bowling
Golf!!! omfg

Re: sports you just can't get into
Baseball is NOT a sport. It's an activity.
Soccer is a sport, but it's hard to watch because there is not enough scoring. Posession also switches sides too often.
Basketball is a sport, but it's hard to watch because there is too much scoring.
Football is a sport, but I have a hard time watching it because of the breaks in the action. However, it is the breaks in the action which make football such a great spectator sport. You can watch the 5 second play, and then have 30 seconds to talk to friends, laugh, run to the kitchen, etc... and not miss the next play.
Golf.... I am torn on this one. I am an avid golfer, and low-handicap player. So I enjoy watching golf, both in-person and on TV. But I completely understand how people who don't play don't like it. I also can understand how people might not classify it as a sport. But.... let me tell you this.... Tiger Woods is one serious athlete.
Hockey. Defintly a sport. I love to play it.... hate to watch it. I don't really understand why. I think it's similar to soccer... not enough scoring, and too many posession changes.
Lacrosse. This is my favorite team sport. It's the perfect combination of fast-paced action and scoring. There's enough goals to keep you interested, but not so many that goals lose their excitement. Posession changes often, but not too much like soccer or hockey. There's lots of settled offense/defense situations, where the teams take care of the ball. Offense is a lot like basketball, except with 6 on 6 and you can go behind the goal. It is a very rough sport, too.Comment
