Do you actually make an effort to get all gussied up when going to the mall? I'm not suggesting that just going with boxer briefs and track shoes ought to be enough, but when I'm heading to the mall, I'm not thinking about anything more than doing what I need to do. I mean, I don't go out of my way to look like a fool, but I'm not going to iron something either just because I need to leave the house, either.

Of course, I'm married, so that might have something to do with my ambivalence about such things. Before you know it, I'll be standing on my lawn in knee-high black socks, sandals, and a bathrobe yelling at the neighbor kids to slow down.

Those are good points, however I have found it to be an unfortunate truism, that if you look nice, you will get better service. Espeically in higher end places.

they can look good on chicks, but they were trendy like 3 years ago, the back lash was huge from what i recall, i mean a fucking forum about john digweed is taking shit about them. They are fucking comfortable though, sheep skin is almost as awsome as cashmere, almost.

dude, we have the Americana Manhasset where i live, which makes Rodeo Drive look like the bootleg shops in midtown manhatten. they dont even open the doors unless you are wearing a suit.
Americana Manhasset is a collection of 60 fabulous shops on Long Island's North Shore, just 20 miles from Manhattan.

but good god, they have some remarkable clotheirs and the brooks brothers store there doesnt even have suits for sale, just fabric and make your suit on site.

That's true, but you know, if someone is going to ignore me because I don't "look the part," they can miss out on whatever commission they would earn from the sale, IMO. When I go to the store, I tend to have a pretty good idea of what I'm going to get and just go in and get it without lingering around or mulling around the store waiting for someone to come to me. Honestly, I'm a commissioned sales person's dream customer because I don't waste their time.

It does crack me up a bit to see the change in demeanor that can occur if the person I'm dealing with should happen to figure out that I'm actually a pretty successful guy. I remember after getting married last fall, my wife and I went to the bank to get our accounts consolidated, but we did it on a Saturday morning on our way to the gym, so we were both dressed, well, like we were going to the gym. Things were going along in pretty unremarkable fashion until we got into the particulars, and the gal actually said, out loud, "Wow, I had no idea" -- which I thought was pretty rude -- and then the dog and pony show began. I'm thinking, "Oh, NOW you're interested in what's going on here?" Dumb ass.

Don't get me wrong, though -- I don't look like a complete scumball when I go to the mall, I just don't go out of my way to dress to the nines. Jeans and a t-shirt, mostly.

god its so true, when i went down to miami to do the liquor audit at our club in the hard rock, and i never wear a suit there, usually just go in wearing jeans and a tee.(its a club afterall and i own part of it), and the bouncer wouldnt even let me in the door. im standing there laughing at him, trying to avoid any loudness, telling him im actually part of the ownership group, and there for business. so after 5 minutes trying to call our manager, i get him and he comes running out all huffed.

So that´s what you call that shit...it´s like you´re wearing a pair of dead teenage sheep around your feet, I fuckin´ hate those things.

However, almost any woman wearing knee-high leather boots gives me a tingling down under, I just want them to be my jockey ladies and ride me hard to the finish line, yeah baby, yeah...

                        Sorry...

Much as I hate to admit it Ugg boots are an Australian invention. They used to be a cheap comfortable thing to wear around the house, more like a slipper. I can't believe the prices they sell for now.

I must be out of the loop because I've never seen these boots before. But yes, they are quite ugly.
