The 14th installment of PSD sees the return of the SERIES OF SUBSTANCE concept. The 1st series which feature Russia 'DP-6' and Romania 'Xplore' original productions received warm respond and support throughout worldwide with Djs such as Mike Hiratzka, Pako & Frederik, Dj Taucher and many more has given the 1st series thumbs up.
Series 2 features Hungary based Jay Lumen, associated with labels such as 1 Shot Recordings, Tilth Music, Baroque & Pangea. His sound is dynamic, pulsating grooves as you can hear it on this series and Tobias Hoppe, a new producer with its debut release with PSD presents 3 original that showcase progressive in Germany is not dead yet.
One Moment kicks in easy with shuffling hi-hats, nice rounded bass and kick layered over a warm pads that quickly sets that atmospheric mood. A dream like piano synth leads it beautifully into the main break before an uplifting melodic re-entry lifts the track up a notch. Million Years trades the clean round bass for a slightly techier groove over a dirty low end while still retaining Jay’s signature of that beautiful melodic piano reefs he’s shown in One Moment.
Siq slides in with a tight groove and a funky bassline over a smokey vox efx. The mix remains deep and mysterious, weaving in and out over a hypnotic reef. 4AM kicks straight into action moving in with a breaky edge before it bump you straight into the 4 to the floor route over some real ass jacking bassline we’ve heard in awhile. A moroder like bass synth leads you into the breaksy main break before a distorted like guitar reef lifts you up into the re-entry in an of we go style.
Urban Nights is probably the most left among the lot with its somewhat offbeat at times groove along a quirky snare. Keeping it minimal at times yet warm with its lush pads over some filter steps efx. A minimal like synth stab effortlessly lifts it up into serious territory, perfect for those build-ups.
FEEDBACK
Moshic (Contrast Records) Israel - SIQ for me. Good work.
Hernan Cattaneo (Worldwide) - Really good stuff. Like it a lot. All 5 tracks sound very good. Charted for Dec 06.
Anthony Pappa (Worldwide) - I like One Moment from these two tracks and i will play this out occasionally. All of Tobias tracks are good and are playable for me. My fav is 'Urban Nights' and i will play this out.
Eelke Kleijn (Outside the Box Music) Netherlands - Yeah!! Good to receive some quality music. This is great stuff mate. Will definitely support it. My favo are 'One Moment' which is really proper progressive house. Also, Urban Nights by Tobias Hoppe. I like the laidback groove. Will be charting this one for December.
Simon Langham, UK - Fantastic packed for your 14th digital release. Listened to the samples of each and Urban Nights is the standout track for me. Love all the Hoppe tracks actually. The Lumen are good too but this just edges it.
Fedja Haueter (Sirion Records) Switzerland - All the tracks are really solid productions. For my flavour the Tobias Hoppe tracks are great. Especially "Siq" is the bomb !!! For sure i'm gonna play this one a lot !
Dean Facer, UK - SIQ > playlist and charted !
Arjun Vagale, India - Wicked package ! One Moment is fantastic. I love the melodies ! 4AM is hot ! But i dig the Jay Lumen tracks more...melodic prog at its finest !!
and more support from Sultan (Canada), DJ Hano (Tokyo), Coldrush (UK), Matt Black (UK), Roger Liland (Norway), DJ Taucher (Germany), Onirika (Italy), Sean McClellan (UK) and many more.
