Richie Hawtin - Transitions DVD mix

ive heard this mix a few times right after i bought the dvd/cd combo. but as i sit here preparing for an OS restore, im once again loving the shit out of this set. one of the only cd's worth buying in 2006, imo.

the cd that comes with it is a condensed version. for those that dont know, this mix is actually 96 minutes in length and recorded in 5.1 Surround. i have the full version on my mp3 player and its just nasty work!

that mix is certainly worth it... It's really neat on the DVD version to have cues as to what he's bringing in and shifting out as the set progresses. Highly recommend this mix and Hawtin's Closer to the Edit...they're made in such a musically purposeful way that even non tech-oriented people I know can really appreciate them.

mine came in a cd case.

included was:
1dvd - containing 96 minute mix. and some bonus footage such as interviews.
1cd - with cd capability being limited to 80 minutes, they give you a condensed version of the mix which is also good, but goddamn that full set is filth.

There's also a video of a gig on the dvd. Wicked visuals. The mix is beautifully mastered, every sound is just, whoa! And hearing them on a good sound system literally adds another dimension to it. The only letdown was the actual "music video" of the mix which was kinda boring visually (plain text fading in and out) even though you get to "see" the track layering and transitions. From what I read before purchasing the dvd, I had expected a proper music video/visuals that actually "react" to the track transitions.

I really agree. The cd's great, but in those extra minutes the beats slow down and the melodies start coming in. It's a great ending. I delayed hearing the dvd for a while, since I don't have a nice surround system. In the end, it didn't matter. It was still enjoyable just coming out of the tv.

I remember a 4am session with Richie at Homeands 2001, really twists your brain after 14 hours of partying.

imo hawtins had a sublime year, probibly been dj of the year for me saw him a couple of months ago n he lifted the roof off the place, an amazing experience

I have it and as Jib said one of the best mixes this year if not the best, and the 5.1 experience is so good its not even funny.
I have the long mp3 version that came on the dvd on my ipod.
